I've seen several times where Altuve or Springer was on 2nd, and couldn't score on a Correa hit. Between the Crawford boxes and high exit velocity, it can be hard to score from 2nd even for guys that can run. Judge's hits are at such high velocity that a single might not score Gardner.

And BTW, I think sending Altuve was way way worse of a blunder. Gardner makes 3rd at least 90% of the time there, while I'd say Altuve is out on that play 90% of the time (we've literally seen it several times).

Maybe the 3rd base coach remembers...

They would have walked Marwin to setup force out at home and double play. We'd have Yuli at bat.

    Not for sure.

When you have a K pitcher on the mound, and Marwin as a right-hander who isn't as good as Yuli, I wouldn't have presumed them walking Marwin there. Infield would have been in though... and Hinch may have tried a squeeze if they pitch to him.

They definitely walk Yuli with a base open.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports that Astros bench coach Alex Cora is the Red Sox' "top candidate" for their managerial vacancy.

Cora interviewed with Boston on Sunday with the Astros having an off day in between Game 2 and 3 of the ALCS. It appears that he's the favorite to replace John Farrell, although it likely won't be made official as long as Houston is playing. Cora's only managerial experience has been in winter ball in his native Puerto Rico. The Red Sox are also expected to interview former Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire.

Cora is the hot name for manager hires. If Red Sox don't hire him, I expect he will be mentioned in every potential manager hire until he gets his shot.

My guess is tomorrow with Peacock getting the start Tuesday and Colin being his long relief, tandem starter. But how bout we just put up crooked numbers and make relief pitching moot.

Basically assistant manager. Typically, deals more with the players during the game as manager handles the decisions.

It was mentioned in this thread (don't know which post offhand) and on Astros reddit page. During the postgame coverage on MLB Network last night one of the dudes seemed really unhappy with our win. Maybe the rumor is incorrect, I just want to see the clip.

I didn't really notice that at all. I've been watching MLB network and the national coverage on FOX Sports. MLB seems to have been far less biased towards the Yankees than FOX. Before game one FOX had 3 different feel-good stories about the Yankees compared to a brief mention about the Astros. All of their analysts except Big Papi predicted the Astros to win. After losing game 2 A-Rod kept talking about how if not for the bad luck of a couple of plays the Yankees would be up two games to none.

Morton and Sabathia probable starting pitchers for game 3, bullpen rested from not being used at game 2. Don't see a pitching duel this game, need to probably score 4 or 5 runs at least to get W. Realistic best case scenario is to split the next 2 so Keuchel can close it out at game 5.
