i'm not so enamoured with any of those names, particularly monta whose game has taken a huge nosedive the past couple seasons. but at the same time it ticks me off that bobby brown is on the roster. i don't care if harden and paul each throw a twitter fit, brown has no business sticking on any nba roster. if they need a buddy on the bench then just make him a development coach or something.
Hmm.. don't know. He's been in Europe I believe and he's added a reliable 3 point shot to his repertoire.
Yeah I don’t get why any team hasn’t signed him yet. In case of an injury he should be solid, but my guess is he wants promised minutes.
I don't understand not wanting a third playmaker. It's not like we'd be giving them the keys. We just need a point guard that can keep the score moving if both Harden and Paul can't go. Bobby Brown is serviceable, but I think we need someone a little more lethal. I'm curious though, how do you want to fill that 15th spot?
I like that he can attack the rim from the corner like CP3. If we're running the same PnR offense we did last year, that corner man is going to get the ball quite a bit and it's nice to have someone out there that can shoot or drive. It makes the offense more dynamic and tougher to guard. The other thing I like about Barbosa is that he's done well in the MDmA system before.
i don't think brown is serviceable, but more importantly neither does pringles -- he'd rather just try plugging in luc instead. for the 15th spot at this late stage with what's leftover now, probably kay felder if we don't have to assume his prior contract.
So you want a creator at the point as well. I assume you want youth, but are you aware of how inefficient Felder is? That 39 percent from the field makes me nervous. Why would you want him over a Beno or Barbosa that have a lot more experience and offensive efficiency? Is Felder a really good defender or something?
ya he's shot around low 40s even back thru college. of course bobby brown can't even get to 40 but the talent is there and perhaps with better shot selection and maturity he could put it together for us. he's an isaiah thomas waterbug type of player able to get the defense on it's heels and make plays for either himself or teammates. and over beno or barbosa, i'd just prefer adding something this roster is clearly missing in speed, young legs, and athleticism.
Gotcha. Now it's all making more sense. You want someone that will change the pace of offense. In Bobby's defense, he does boast a 45% eFG vs 42% for Kay. They both pass about the same, both take care of the ball, but Bobby does score more frequently (like points per minute) which in this case might be a bad thing seeing their shooting percentages are low. Barbosa does push the pace a good bit too though. Personally, I'd make the decision on who really wants to be here. If somebody really wants the job, they'll benefit the team regardless. Even if it's behind the scenes.
ya felder would be ideal to push the ball and get us open looks before the defense can get set, he is blindingly fast with the ball. barbosa will turn 35 in a month, so while still a better option than brown imo, he doesn't add another dimension to our roster
From researching this, Felder has to clear waivers first which is a 48 hour period in the NBA. He was stretch-waivered on Saturday so I think he'll be available at 5pm EST tomorrow. Felder is guaranteed 456K on his contract, but the team that waived him pays that over 3 seasons I believe. We could claim him off waivers if we had cap room for him, but I think we're close the the hard cap already. I'm not sure what we'd sign him with, maybe Cam Oliver's money? Think he'd take a 2-way contract? I think we have 300K of Dead Cap.
Hopefully Tilman waltzes in there and tells Nichols that she better show the franchise some respect or else the goons will be paying her a visit!
