I was torn between him pitching today... and saving him for game 5... mainly because if they did manage to win game 5, he'd not be available till game 3 (with Peacock being game 2?). However, if they were always planning on pitching him today... I'd rather have him start on 3 days rest, or come in to start an inning. Can't say definitively that it was the wrong move... just maybe not at the exact right time.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm Astros #1 (been going to games at the Astrodome since I was 5) but I'm a huge Cowboys and Rockets fan as well; however, I get so much more anxiety from these games. The fact that the Cowboys consistently choke these days and the Warriors dominate the NBA probably help as well though since I don't actually think either team has a realistic chance to win it all unlike the Astros this season.
Yeah, I'm OK with him pitching, but I absolutely hated to bring him in mid inning. Thought it was stupid before the HR, I was furious afterwards. I have faith in DK, so those 2 are interchangeable to me. I want DK to have as little extra rest as possible.
Man the postseason is such a crapshoot I hate this line of thinking. This has been an incredibly successful season.
The Verlander decision would have been forever scrutinized for the rest of time if the Stros lost this game and the series...BUT...since they didnt...I am glad they played to win the game instead of worrying about "having a series lead..." Bill OBrien should take notes (ie. 4th and 1 with the chance to seal a win at foxboro and NOT face Brady)
I don't think anyone disagrees it's been a successful season regardless - the Indians are a tough out and there is no shame in going down to them in a 6 or 7 game series. That being said, we have waited over 50 years for the Astros to finally win one - at some point you can't just keep saying going to the ALCS or WS is a success.
I would think you would flip flop DK and Justin. I think the earliest ALCS starts is Friday. Saturday JV will have 4 days rest.
