It ain't all on Hinch. The Astros have 5 hits through 6 innings and all of them are by Springer, Reddick, and Yuli. Where the hell is the rest of the lineup?!
I really hope that the players have more fortitude than all of these "sky is falling" posters. We are down 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th, and we have 9 more outs to score runs. If we lose, then fine, we get game 5 at home with Dallas Keuchel pitching. But I'd really hate to have this loser's mentality that I'm seeing here.
Can't stand Liriano....I always feel he's an accident waiting to happen and most times the accident happens.Should be pitching batting practice.
It is what people deserve after treating this series like it was over after game 2. Not how these things work.
Against sorry a** Porcello and a short rested Chris Sale who has been a bum the last month - this is my point earlier.
Hinch's record is the benefit of all the talent he has. It should not even come up when he gets fired after losing this series.
Correa trying too much hero ball in games 3 and 4. No patience at plate and swinging for fences. On another note, Gattis with a total of 5 games in 8 hole (.125 avg). Never should have went away from lineups from game 1 and 2. Hinch overthinking.
This. I just don't know why the shuffle when that lineup was doing so well. It's really manifesting itself with all these runners LOB the last two games.
One thing I don't get is if Hinch is feeling the desperation why not try to generate runs earlier with hotness and runs and bunts?
I remember the 8th inning of 2015. I remember the Lidge game. I remember the Ike Astros. I remember the Clemens-Oswalt tandem failing. Our feeling panic is justified.
The problem is when you make a desperation move like that and it fails...it's hard for the team to not feel like the series is on the line for the next 9 outs. When he made that move he said to his team and the Red Sox that he's going for the jugular, and he missed, and now they have all the momentum for the series. The one thing we had to fall back on was Verlander at MMP in game 5...and we had a one run lead, they had one man on base with one out...there was really no need to panic there.
And don't think Sale won't pitch in game 5, they will use him to break our will, or if they just warm him up Hinch will flinch and waste a pinch hitter or something even dumber.
They 100% do. Nobody on the team thinks this series or game is over. We still have the advantage going forward. But thinking the Verlander move was stupid is fair game. At the very minimum give him a fresh inning.
Experienced fan base. Longtime Houston sports fans knew that move was going to backfire the minute JV started warming up. It's what this city does.
