Gotta pump the breaks on firing anybody at this point. There's a GM and coach that have a franchise QB and there's a GM and coach that don't have a QB. The game changes when you all of a sudden have that stability. Need to see how Watson plays out the rest of the season.

Also don't forget how much McNair was slobbing Smith for his ingenuity in the Osweiller trade. Keep in mind that we had a handshake deal for the number 12 pick set up during that negotiation. If Watson is deemed a legit future superstar, McNair might literally adopt Smith.

Yeah I watched the game and I’m thinking either he playing really good or Ben playing horrible. Just happened to be both.

    Sigh.

Sitting on $21 million in cap space.

Maybe McNair is low on cash?

Our roster is worse than last year, but we have a QB. I don't get the thinking unless we just want to ensure the Browns get really high draft picks with our 2018 #1 & #2 picks.

They should just give us those picks back. They aren’t doing anything with them anyway

Just bad decision making. Regardless of where you stood on the Bouye deal, Rick let 2 starters walk without replacing them.

this is the impossible part but a roster can be built. you already see that you have young guys like fuller, foreman, cunningham, cole who look to be franchise talents. meanwhile the jags still have bortles.

Letting go of Bouye might be the biggest mistake Smith has made and that's saying something.

Trade away picks, overpay in free agency, let some of your best players leave, front load contracts for no reason. What could go wrong

I started this thread okay but even I don't think losing Bouye is a fire-able offense. Rick offered him a big contract but AJ took a slightly bigger one. Also Rick (or his scouts) found AJ from the trash pile and right or wrong I'm sure they believe they can find another one.

Fair enough, point still stands. Also you can't cherry pick successes and failures to prove your point. Gotta to look at the whole. That said, I still want him fired but not because of AJ. Many other good reasons to fire him including his lover affair with Broncos and Elway causing him to do stupid ****.

The reason our special teams always suck is because our mid round picks usually flame out and those are the players that fills in those special team roles

    lol

We're still doing this? We attribute successful acquisitions to the coaches and the bad ones to the GM.
