Peacock sucked today. End of story.
Don't know if he "choked" but he certainly wasn't good today.

One poster on here will lead you to believe the reason he wasn't good today (like Giles) was due to "the combo of a week off and first playoff game" which made this "a very combustible situation".

Plenty of people were posting in real-time during the game, commenting about each play. Lots of people commented on Liriano literally seconds after he screwed up. But not a single person said anything like "bad move to pull Peacock" or "oh ****, Liriano's coming in" or anything of the sort before he messed up.

Sorry, the whole "people weren't at their computer commenting" thing doesn't fit the facts.

If you are defending Hinch bringing in Liriano today, when he did... then you need to find another fight because it was a stupid move and most people paying attention knew it was stupid at the time.

Not sure why it matters at this point, because the pitchers after Liriano didn't do all that well either.

Sometimes I just choose not to throw gasoline on the fire. I knew, hell they said it last game, that Devers was hitting .400 against LHP this year. And he hates...just look back at game 1...hates the high fastball (loves to swing, can't hit). So, that combo right there told me that Liriano might not be the best choice at that point.

I can't speak for anybody else.

Not sure why it matters at this point, because the pitchers after Liriano didn't do all that well either.

@Nook has a great point here. It was a team ****up that lost this one, not any one guy.

Well I was with about 5 people we all thought it was stupid. We weren't sitting on clutchfans. It would be hard to believe that there were no others in that situation. Unless you think the entirety of fan reaction/opinion is based off posts from immediately after moves are made on clutchfans game threads?? I know you are smarter than that!

But, you didn't post that as soon as liriano came in the game. Therefore it is not an official opinion? It matters because it was a huge turning point in the game and it was handled poorly.

You don't find it amazing that no one ever is on their computers when moves are made, but dozens of people are on them immediately after those pitchers give up hits moments later? Game after game all season long? Are you suggesting it's all just a big coincidence?

It's fascinating how fans have a 100% success rate of knowing bad moves, but managers simply always get it wrong.

I'm not saying there aren't people who react purley on hindsight. But I know for a fact that is incorrect to say that people were ok with the move, simply because there were no posts before the HR.

It was a bad freaking move! I know you know that!!

If you are interested, visit posts #1807-#1812, from 3pm to 3:01pm - when Liriano was inserted. No criticism. Just discussion about pitchers in the following innings, Peacock's struggles, etc.

Then at 3:02-3:04pm, when he screwed up, posts #1813-#1853 - 40 posts in 2 minutes about stupid Hinch, clearly it was the wrong decision, etc. Not one of those geniuses who know it was a horrible decision thought to post that when he was inserted, despite talking about anything and everything else related to the game? Unless everyone just ran to CF to post literally 1 minute after it happened, then most of those people were already there.

And this proves that no one thought hinch was dumb for putting lirano in at the time?! C'mon dude. You are being puposefully obtuse!

40 posts on a forum vs how many hundreds of thousands watching the game who didn't post on cf????

Major does have a point. There's a massive tendency to hindsight things when they go wrong, and say nothing or praise them after they go right. He's not talking to you or anyone in particular (I'm assuming), and this is not a new internet/bbs phenomenon wrt sports, and it will never change.

he wasn't trying to Write a commentary on the nature of bbs's though. He was trying to justify hinch's move based on the lack of reaction before the hr. He has no point. You know it was a stupid move. I know it was a stupid move, he knows it was a stupid move. And so do most competent astros fans. Regardless of the timing of comments! You even said it yourself: some people just don't want to add fuel to the fire in the moment.

Don't think McCullers can be used as a LR - he seems to be able to handle the 1st time through the order, but after that he has some serious struggles.

Considering Fister didnt' get out of the 2nd, Boston didn't have to stretch the bullpen which would have been a minor victory. Hopefully we can get to Porcello early, and Morton can handle Boston for 5-6 good innings.

McCullers made it through 3 scoreless innings. I'll take that in the playoffs.

We're not going to win many games where Devo and Musgrove get lit up. I didn't love pitching Devo there as he's now gone 3 times in 4 days -- he's probably out today.

Hopefully that's out of there system now, and Ground Chuck can give us 6 strong... Giles may be tapped for 2 innings today if we need it.

I'm still mourning yesterday's local transgressions.

Winning today would help, but some things seem to never change.

Future still has good potential. Time will tell what happens.

The weather report on Boston's CBS affiliate said they believe the game will be played today.

Don't know if I will get to watch game live today but however long this playoff run goes for the Stros, I don't trust HInch in close games. I just don't. Hope the team's talent can continue to overcome his deficits as an in game manager.

They did a close up of Hinch taking him out yesterday, and you could decipher that he was saying words along the lines of "lets come out now, so you're still available for tomorrow."

After a week off, Devo (or anybody) shouldn't be too fatigued... and Devo's stuff is still better against these hitters than Harris.

I've voiced my thoughts that I didn't think he was worth being on playoff roster. I would consider it redundant to say it is a bad move every time he is inserted. Quote from my wife, "oh no. They are sending out the non-Sipp lefthander." She can never remember Liriano's name

I'm looking forward to a gem by Morton today. Dude probably got the least amount of attention this year but quietly had a damn solid season
