Are some of these posts real? I think there’s some clutch fans universe out there where some of you live or spend too much.
The analysts have proven again and again they have no more of a clue whose going to do what or win what than you, I or Vegas. But Barkley is at least entertaining.
I said it all last season, Kawhi is going to win. Seems everyone has already made up their mind, someone said "It's his turn." and that's basically how it goes. Last season was Harden's turn, but it was skipped over in favor of arbitrary stats. The only way Harden does it is if he finishes first in the west, but it won't matter then, the whole "He has too much help" works against him now and works in favor of Kawhi.
The narrative is already crafted for: 1) Lebron: He is really best player in the league, should have it every year. 2) Durant: Was really the MVP last year but was punished for Warrior deal 3) Kawhi: Best "two way player" deserves respect I expect Harden to finish second or third again in MVP. His "help" in the form of Chris Paull will be used against him.
With Barkley now in our corner (corner booth at Landrys with all meals comped that is) anything is possible!!
Harden will NEVER win an MVP as long as it is a media voted award...media members were reaching and contradicting themselves left and right so much last season, it was ridiculous and embarrassing Harden winning the MVP would be like a 40 win 8th seed winning a title
that standard has been set with westbrook last year. Harden will be going up giannis, embiid, and even KAT. When a player wins the mvp with less than 50 wins, set the record for usage percentage, and gets a seed placed way worse than the usual 3rd to win. Then any superstar on any mediocre team is fair game to win the award
nah the media wont even talk about his improved defense, they'll still crack jokes and claim that cp3 is somehow the best player on the team( espn rankings)
The award is decided before the season begins based on the best "narrative", not necessarily the best performance. Although sometimes the two go together.
He's due. This could easily be his year, as long as everyone steps up when he's dragging. The CP3 addition takes the load off, and with another big piece coming in later, Harden could pull a Westbrook and average the triple-double. The difference is that Harden can have a more efficient trip-doub, unlike WB taking 40 shots to get by. Yes, I understand that Russ has some crazy options now, but I'm nearly certain that's going to be a disaster.(PGeorge is going to be a FA; MelF's going to be a FA...they want the ball, and they need the stats/season that deserves dough. One ball with Russ---yikes. One ball with James/CP sharing--duh!) Either way, it's nice for Chuck to give the Rockets some love, instead of dismissing us before the season starts.
There is no chance that Harden wins the MVP because it is decided by the media. Could very well finish 2nd, though.
So McHale makes fun of Harden's defense and leadership. Yet thinks a guy that is less of a leader and a worst defender is going to win the MVP? I think McHale took too many elbows to his head while playing for the Celtics.
Barkley is always wrong on his hot takes so don't expect much. Besides, the media and fans in general don't respect Harden at all (flopper that doesn't play defense). Unless Harden wins a chip, he'll never avoid those criticisms.
Tilman should see if he can arrange for Barkley to be on hand for the opening game of the season. Trot him out on the court and have him say something. Have Hakeem there, too. It would be a nice gesture, and it couldn't hurt our relations with the media, in my opinion.
