I know it's controversial but it has to be said. Chris Paul is better than James Harden

He can, nobody is stopping him to do so, true but also with this team he does not have to.

Harden has higher highs and lower lows, that's for sure. Chris Paul is basically the closest thing the NBA has to Lebron. He controls tempo better than just about any player literally ever, and he exudes leadership. He is a complete stud, and for ANYONE to compare Paul George to this guy just doesn't know the game, period.

Chris Paul is a master and an all-time great. This team will prove it, and I LOVE being overlooked.

Stating the obvious, but Chris Paul has yet to elevate his game in the playoffs against the best of the best. Harden has done that in the regular season and in the post season.

    Are you Skip Bayless?

Skip Bayless likes to say things for the sake of saying things...

    Don't be a Skip Bayless.

If cp3 is better than harden that means cp3 is a top 3 player in the game. I wouldn't have a problem with that. Don't believe it though

when it comes to both james harden and chris paul, not only is bobby brown better but in a 1 on 2 game of 21 he'd win by at least 21pts

brown and quartermann are the future of rockets basketball. you heard it here first!

I think harden can learn from paul and possibly surpass him... but paul is definitely a better/smarter player right now

Harden needs to get in the gym and get his shot back tho lol

Chris Paul does look like a smarter more all around player. His defense impacts the team.

    Who cares? We have both!:)

To OP's point though, CP has the best career Offensive Rating of all time(122.7), better than LeBron(116.14) and MJ(117.97).

    Harden:117.50

    I think cp3 has.

He put up a 127 ortg in 2015 and .322 ws/48 in 2016, both higher than his regular season averages.

Chris Paul is the better defensive player, better leader, better caretaker of the ball, more tenacious.

Harden is an offensive juggernaut and becomes unplayable at times.

    Who is better?

    Does not matter.

    Ryan Anderson.

James Harden is a player that can be as bad as a 3 out of 10, but sometimes be as good as a 13 out of 10. He rarely has middle ground and often hovers around one of two extremes. Chris Paul is different, he is consistently hanging around the 8-9/10 and whilst he rarely has poor games, he also doesn't often have explosive games that Harden has proven to be capable of.

Of course, the problem is fans love harping on negatives (or positives, depending on who you are) by nature. For example, Kobe Bryant is statistically not a scorer that puts up elite efficiency, at least his efficiency numbers are nowhere near the likes of many top scorers today. His crunch times are also incredibly mediocre. However, he would still be regarded as one of the best scorers and clutch players of all time, even though numbers may not be in his favor. How many people talk about that fact that when the Lakers won the championship, the Lakers won their final game despite Kobe only shooting 6-24 with 4 TOs and only 2 assists?

This is the case for James Harden. He is a polarizing player, for both NBA fans and Rocket fans. Rocket fans have had the privilege of seeing his greatest struggles, but also his greatest performances. However, at the end of the day, Harden has brought far more success for the team than the fans have ever seen since Hakeem. He has brought in far more success to the Rockets than most other fans in the NBA will ever see from their team in a decade. It's incredibly ignorant to discard what he has done in favor of the hot new comer (who, by the way, is amazing in his own regard). Instead, the new focus should be on how the two guys can mesh together, because James Harden will be the one that needs to change his game more so than Chris Paul. We have both guys on the team, why even talk about how one is better than the other based on two completely meaningless pre-season games? Last time I checked, we won 55 games with James Harden leading a mediocre roster, not Chris Paul.
