The guy who killed dozens in Manila was a gambling addict who had lost it all.

Many things in life are easy to do at first, emotions/regret often only appear after you've done something. Shooting all those people may have seemed like a great idea to that man, but afterwards he realized how he just threw his life away for idiotic reasons and had no way of undoing it.

I heard on WTOP this morning he did indeed have fully automatic weapons. Beyond that, listening to the audio is certainly sounds like full auto.

Why the hell these are legal for civilians to own in America is beyond me.

Even if he obtained them illegally, the fact that they are floating around in the civilian population at all is stupid.

If you ask all of the countries in the world whether or not they think their gun control laws are effective, they will say yes. Cherry picking a single incident in Paris proves nothing. Look at the totals of mass shootings and you will see that gun control laws are effective.

Of course, it's not solely gun control laws. The gun culture in America is f***ed. Weapons are idolized for some reason and people build up armaments for some reason as well. It's not about self-defense or hunting. You can make stricter gun laws that ban all weapons except those specifically designed for hunting or self-defense. Just limit the type of guns people can purchase. If you want self-defense gun license? You can only legally own a handgun. If you want a hunting license? You can only purchase firearms designed for hunting.

Why do people need more powerful weapons than those? From a civilian purpose standpoint.

If you listen to any of the videos of the actual shooting, it's obvious that he used fully automatic weapons. You simply can't shoot semi automatic weapons that fast unless maybe they had a slide fire stock....even then, I don't think it would be firing that quickly.

Maybe you are right. Though usually especially new recruits are heavily drugged and high when they commint their acts.

Just my uneducated guess is that since he seems to have especially loved country mustic , targeting this particular concert seems to indicate a personal psychological issue than a religious one. Destroying what you love in a self hating and revenge before you suicide.

So what? If you ask North Koreans, their leader is awesome. I couldn't be less concerned with how people in other countries feel about their laws or ours.

Then look at the total stats of mass shootings (not cherry picked incidences) to see how effective they are.

That way of thinking is why your country is so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to gun safety, healthcare, bigotry and other things. It's always wise to look at those around you and learn from them.

Again, it certainly didn't help those in Paris....

So basically stripping people in this country of their rights would help them until it did nothing for them. Good plan.

Converting at 63 seems less likely than converting at 21.

Agreed. Doesn't mean it's not possible, just doesn't seem likely.

ISIS lying does not compute. They are such a reputable outfit.

4chan hacked Podesta's email last year. It was insane. Some of those guys are very talented with a computer in front of them.

Wonder what he was shooting and if he obtained it legally. Doesn't it take a couple grand and a long waiting period to get one?

I don't see the need for civilians to have the ability to own a fully automatic weapon anyways.
