How much are you finding tickets for? What's a good deal that's' worth it........ bad thing about me is, none of the ppl around me like Baseball. I can't convince someone to go & most ppl won't take off for those days. Can I just buy 1 and look like the creeper baseball fan?
Not surprised at all about getting the shaft in the start times. Networks are assuming the Yankees are going to win tomorrow and planning to have them in prime time. Man it would be awesome if Minnesota won and they're stuck with 2 smaller markets in that slot and the Red Sox playing midday.
Nobody will notice you or care that you're by yourself. I love attending games alone when I'm traveling in other cities for work.
Haha that's true. How rare is it to find a solo ticket on seat geek or something? Notice ppl sell in 2 or more. I'll have to look again. Maybe I'll watch it at a bar for game 1 and get game 2 seats.
I guess the two earlier start times does avoid the issue of possibly having to play early after a late night game...
I do it all the time. Just stay out of the kids zone. Most of the guys out side the park looking for extra tickets have a single ticket for sale.
Nothing wrong with buying 1 and going by yourself. I've done that for lots of games. Maybe because I have no friends. Lol no but really, MLB playoffs don't happen ever year so I strongly encourage you to go! People say baseball is boring but man, playoff baseball is such an ELECTRIC atmosphere! Ticket prices are dropping because both games 1 and 2 are during the day on a weekday. You should be able to get a ticket for under $70 or even around $50 for standgin room only. In 2015, ALDS game 4 against the Royals were going for $30 because it was on a Monday. ALDS Game 3 was on a Sunday and the cheapest tickets were going for $125.
On friday, both ALDS games are scheduled for the afternoon... with the Cubs/Dodgers taking the primetime games. Once they decided to give the Astros the 3pm game on Thursday, it was inevitable that it was going to be two day games. If the Twins do win, its pretty much lock that game 3 at Boston will be a night game.
Very true! **** you convinced me to go. How do I find standing room tickets? I really don't mind standing and drinking beers with the crowd. Cheering.
From work getting live updates from MLB's website. Luckily, these Astros have shown a strange propensity to win more on the road, so I'm not terribly concerned about home field advantage. However, this is still bullshit.
Standing room only tickets are still available on astros.com. You can also find them easily on stubhub.com.
I agree; the city of Houston also has a compelling story. Obviously, they're banking on the Yankees winning the WCG; but I really thought the looming threat of Minnesota/Cleveland would have pushed Boston/Houston to the prime time slot as much more of a sure thing. I just can't believe Cleveland has much national recognition beyond Ohio while the Red Sox = Yankees. Add in the Harvey angle and......... Fox should probably prepare for low ratings on the prime time games.
They will. They did for game 4 in 2015 against KC. It'll be a full and electric stadium, but there's definitely something about night time playoff games that is even more electrifying.
i was at that game and can attest for the crowd... place was going bonkers until the unraveling occurred. definitely BS that they stick us with two day games, though. not fair to the fans that either won't be able to attend or will miss the game entirely bc of work/school. Houston deserved better.
Again... the only possible night game for both ALDS series is Thursday. Friday night is devoted to the NL, with both AL games scheduled for the day. That Monday game in 2015 was actually at 11 AM!!! And it still was quite the mad-house. Pretty sure Houston will be fine with a 3pm Thursday and 1pm Friday game.... but it would have been even better to get that 6:30pm Thursday game.
