I think the lineup that finished the game could take down the 2013 astros, 12-0.
Team has become something amazing to watch day in and day out.

When do they announce the playoff start times? I hate how ****ing tv schedules dictate everything. Oh no we can’t have 2 games at the same time. Just have the Astros game start at 7 both nights and be done with it.

Edit: just saw the post above. What a ****ing joke. Two weekday afternoon playoff games. **** you MLB.

Cleveland has less people than Wichita Kansas. This is insulting.

Watch them follow this up by scheduling the 3rd game the same time as the Texans play SNF next week

They just wanted to make sure fans could leave the game Thursday and get over to Toyota Center in time for the Shanghai Sharks. MLB looking out once again.

I’m looking forward to being able to watch about 30 minutes of game 1.

Lol. Not sure if serious, but metro is what matters.

San Antonio proper is larger than Boston and Miami combined.

Complain about times, cool... but let's not suggest our crowd wasn't hyped because early starts... like we've done years past.

    Just win baby !!

Local TV ratings in Cleveland have been "astro"-nomical compared to what the Astros drawn in Houston.

I'm guessing that was enough for Fox to make this decision... even with Boston involved.

Astros have been very good in day games this year... very good.

Eh.. MMP had empty seats in 2001 with the early starts.

2004 and 2005 NLDS, and game 3 of 2015 ALDS games were on the weekend because they didn't have home field advantage.... but game 4 of the 2015 ALDS was on a Monday at 11am.... and it was quite raucous.

MLB simply has to go away from giving each game its own time slot... put games on against each other. This isn't biblical times, where fans were expected to listen to these games on the radio regardless.

Houston is/was too large for that... shame.

Reminiscent of a previous conversation you (and many others) were misguided in recently on this forum.
Why would they reduce their income?
Fans can watch on their phones.

Did you finally dust off a book and figure out who Earl Cambell was?

It wouldn't. Are NBA rights fees reduced because they put playoff games against each other? MLB is operating with an archaic system based on a time when they only had 4 playoff teams TOTAL for the majority of the league's existence.

Back then, LCS games were played mid-week in the afternoon, so everybody could see it. One of the most famous hits of all time (shot heard around the world) happened at a time of day when literally nobody in the country saw it... but they certainly heard it on the radio.

Counter-intuitive to the above point. In the end, people who are big fans are going to find a way to watch these games... there's just much more of an audience to gain by putting it in prime time.

MLB ratings are largely based on the local markets... they're at the point where they don't expect the entire nation to watch much of these games, thus why they're relegated to FS1 and MLBN. They are banking on the local market to tune in... hence why markets that draw huge ratings like Cleveland will outpace bigger media markets like Houston/Boston, even when they could be playing the lowly Twins.

Yeah, that guy who played in an underachieving sports market.
NBA has more teams, more games. Catering to more games increases overlapping, but even NBA games end up individual as much as possible whether it's day-primetime or 2-4 days between games within a series.
There's more audience spread out over 8 hours than 4.
Yeah, Cleveland is a more passionate market than Houston.

The league is also hoping New York joins that matchup.
