I'm noticing a trend here. Posters who are stubborn and not receptive to change love to end their posts with "get a grip." Just because you are gripping tightly onto the past doesn't mean that we practical people should.
I'm not talking end of season. I was addressing the posters who were calling for Bill O'Brien to get fired THIS week, post New-England/pre-Tennessee. Him getting fired after our best offensive performance in years is so unrealistic it's not even worth discussing. So I think the "get a grip" was justified, if not a little excessive. By the way, I'm far from a Bill O'Brien fanboy and have roasted him and will continue to roast him as the season goes on. Also, what does "gripping tightly onto the past" even mean in this context? Waxing some Larry Fitzgerald poetic in the BBS? If so, I like it.
I hear you. Yea, there's no way he gets fired this week (though I wish he would). "Gripping tightly onto the past" just seemed to go nicely with get a grip. I respect your level headed response. "Get a grip" just tends to grind my gears right now because the first response on my 'fire corey moore' thread ended with the same phrase. P.S. I think you meant F. Scott Fitzgerald but the mistake is understandable in a football forum.
If DeShaun is the real deal, why would you want O'Brien to coach him? Get a good offensive coach in here.
You do know Watson wanted to be in Houston coached by O'Brien, right? And Jordan Palmer, his QB coach:
On a somewhat similar note - I've often wondered why NFL teams don't raid the coaching staff of the prized QB they just drafted. It makes so much sense. I don't know that you bring them in as offensive coordinators - but surely having a coach on staff on who knows your QB inside and out and can help you design plays that he ran successfully in college..... what am I missing here?
Totally agree but what if they have more than one client. More than one client means more than one team. They have relationships with these guys and once you’re with a team, management might not want you to help a competitive qb progress.
I'm talking about their college coaches; not the guys who coach them up in the offseason. Raid the Clemson staff.
O'Brien may have cost the Texans a major victory on Sunday with his bad playcall on 3rd and 1 along with his clock management at the very end. Inexcusable.
So lets forget the awesome play calling he exhibited for Watson in the mean time. You can say the bad, but don't ignore the good.
"Do we want to continue to be the ‘almost’ team? We almost made the tackle. We almost made the catch. We almost made that interception. We almost got the sack. We almost made the playoffs. Almost."
Yeah and last year we played against their 3rd string qb and got shut out. So a win is a win and a loss is a loss. Keep sucking the O’Brien teet and enjoy your almost
