Man, just a few years ago we would have been freaking out at how undersized Black is as a center, but now we're like "NICE, HE CAN SWITCH TO GUARDS!" Basketball has changed so much so quickly.
probably depends on matchups. black and nene have better court awareness and handles to get in the paint. reed is a better finisher at the rim over size and also has a nifty push-shot floater from about 5-7ft to convert over size.
great point.....and compared to nene and reed, black is a much more mobile help defender and switcher with good instincts
It really is amazing how much the NBA has changed. Unless you are elite, being too big is a major hindrance now.
I don´t have the numbers, and from the office don´t have the time to look it up, but i feel Nene is an elite roller.
It really isn't even remotely close. Defense, Offense, intellect, experience, free-throws. Nene can switch on D and roll with the best of them, and and he is a leader of Men, he talks on defense with the best of them. If we had Reed, he might very possibly be unplayable in the playoffs even If he was healthy. He is that green. Nene might get hurt, but at least he can get minutes on a championship caliber team RIGHT NOW. Again, I'm sorry for the buffoonery in here Nene.
Teams are loading up on the types of role players needed against the primary offensive threats they think they need to face in the playoffs. Back when Shaq dominated in the early 2000s, teams often kept multiple Greg Ostertag types on the team as "six fouls against Shaq." Nowadays, teams are preparing for LeBron, KD, Harden, Curry, etc. So, Greg Ostertag became Ariza, Tucker and Mbah a Moute.
You are the biggest asshat on this board. So thanks for cementing my thoughts on Nene, a top 5 C when healthy, to Willie F'ing Reed, a 15 mpg bench guy on a lottery team.
I would say he's a 2.5 string. He'll get all the back up minutes in games where Nene is resting, which should be quite a few.
This guy can finish PnR plays. I'm getting excited about this whole team. I'm pumped about at least 13 of our guys in the sense that I'm excited to see how they'll contribute. Seriously, watch all the PnR plays. Dude gets there.
Yeah, dude is great. What a resumé.. finished his degree at Memphis in 3 years, transferred to KU to ball with a top competitor, got overlooked in the draft and signed with the Rockets, went up to Bill Worrell and introduced himself as soon as he could, goes to the Lakers and improves, burned no bridges and now he's back. He is SO easy to like.
I'm pumped about the new season upon us and I'm trying to spread the disease. The World's Greatest Basketball Team is about to start a new season! It's time to get excited! Also, I'm not a big fan of started new threads. #I#SHOULD#BE#AN#IDIOT
Good head on his shoulders. He is still young enough to improve too. Turning 26 this year. Cleans the glass, finishes with power, knocking down 75% of his free throws last year. I'd love to see him add a little mid-range game, and then work his way out to the corner. We have so much depth.
