No, I'm saying as a rational individual, I should be more concerned by the President of the United States doing it than a Clutchfans poster.

In a lot of countries if you disrespect the national anthem you will be either get summoned, jailed or even get stripped of the citizenship.

There are million ways to protest and you don't and never should protest during the national anthem. Trump or not Trump. Sorry i m not even an American but you shouldn't disrespect the national anthem and it doesn't matter what is your motive.

These athletes can do what they are today because of the freedom this country gave them. If they can't pay respect to the country, why should I support them? People paid to watch them compete in sport, not watching them protest.

I think the word you are looking for is Capitalism. That's what allows them the freedom to play a sport for a living.

It seems to be a common theme for the younger generations to be completely oblivious to the motivations of their grandparents, Trump set a trap for young and dumb people who don't realise this isn't about him, but about the nation.

Sure they're allowed to protest police or whatever by kneeling during the national anthem, but it's precisely the type of protest where the only outcome is they lose support, and they literally got baited into doing it by the world's most effective troll.

However it was almost a dead story with hardly anybody paying attention and Trump blew it up. If he would have kept his mouth closed no one would care anymore.

I think kneeling would cause the Rockets to lose around 25% of their audience, especially if the kneeling is widespread on the team. A lot of those fans would come back but at least 10% would be very slow to return. That sort of display would be a rather expensive proposition for the team because that type of revenue drop even if brief would sting. If they made a habit of the practice or wind up being the conventional wisdom poster child the drop would be severe and lengthy.

Do you really want me to get into the violations Obama has done towards the law? I mean we can turn this into an off topic debate. I can list pages and pages of things that you probably don't know about and when I give you evidence to back up what I am saying you would somehow still argue with me.

Are we even arguing the same thing here? I already said I agree with you that it was stupid of him to say it. Where I disagree with you is probably on what he meant by it. You probably think he is angry that people are protesting against police violence or as some people think it has some sort of racial motivations.

You probably are a nice person. I don't think you should have called me dumb but you probably are just passionate about things which is good. You never asked me what my personal opinions are. I have been simply stating things from a non emotional objective point of view. I do think it was really stupid of him to say those things. I think people are misunderstanding why he said those things. Where I disagree with you the most is you think that him saying that has some sort of legal ramifications.

Him saying his opinions in no way has legal standing, he isn't enforcing that as law nor is he asking anyone else to. You and I both know that if you had a conversation with him and asked him if he thought police action should be taken in this matter he would say no.

I really don't know what else to say, I have said my opinions for what they are worth. If you disagree then so be it. I would say most likely what I am saying isn't coming across in the same way as you are interrupting it, but thats okay.

Think about what you are actually suggesting. You are suggesting that the POTUS is oblivious to why these athletes kneeled in the first place and then decides to run his mouth on the subject.

He very well knows why these athletes are kneeling. Instead of hearing their issues, he goes down to Alabama, for a campaign speech and throws red meat to his audience.

I'm sorry to insult you further but you must be extremely naive if you actually believe he was personally hurt by the kneeling. No... This was obvious red meat for his audience. In this instance, his audience was a extremely right wing group who supported a luny right wing nut for a Senate seat.

But the president is too dumb to realize that when he speaks, he is never speaking to a targeted audience but to the entire nation. That's part of the responsibility the POTUS has. It doesn't help also that he keeps doubling down on his stupidity and still thinks these athletes should be fired.

I know enough about being a patriot to know people are using these symbolic gestures as weapons for their political gain.

I love the national anthem for the Rockets because ".... Rockets red glare". Leslie is smarter than advertised because I see values of pro teams sliding if this protest phenomenon last more than a season.

No I am suggesting that the athletes and people don't understand why he said the things they said. I am also suggesting that he does know why they are kneeling and disagrees with them that these issues are systemic.

My question to you is why do you think he said the thing he said?

I'm telling you right now why he said those things. He said those things because he was giving a campaign speech a senatorial candidate he was endorsing in Alabama. This candidate is heavily right wing. The audience was heavily right wing. He was throwing meat at them. He loves hearing them cheer. He knows that his statement about "firing those sons of b****es" would resonate extremely well.

He was using the anthem as a weapon for political gain.
