Real Americans believe in free speech and aren't offended by kneeling.

I prefer they don't disrespect the flag, but I don't really like to mix sports with politics.

Is flag burning also free speech? Is wearing nazi flag also free speech? You kind of draw a line somewhere, different people have different ideas on where the line is.

While I agree with you that the media exaggerates things you are underestimating the difference between how people act at home and how they act in public. The fake ish even extends to friendships.

Ex: Off topic but my moms best friend is white. They went to college together, even joked about their kids(myself and her daughter) marrying each other. That was all cute and good until her daughter actually got an actual black boyfriend in law school. They didn't talk to her for months...

Now this is someone who's basically like an aunt to me that we never knew had an issue with interracial dating. And that's someone who's CLOSE

Did you file any protests when movies like planet of the apes 3 that showed the american flag was burning and also hundreds of films blowing up the white house also?

Or better yet, there are many celebreties totally forgot the lyrics while singing the national anthem? Did you ever ask people to boycott them?

Meh, I'm not really underestimating anything. I've seen the worst parts of many different people. I've met some very disgusting people. Racism/prejudice it's all very real. But if you logged on to Facebook from a different country you would think that we were just constantly battling with each other all day.

It's not a silly deflection at all.

That flag and anthem is is dear to the military. The lyrics were written in battle. It's the mindset taken into battle. It literally represents the emotions of war, the love you have for your brothers, and victory. Guidons in the military don't let the flag touch the ground, if they fall it needs to be picked up by someone. Showing respect to that anthem is a representation of our appreciation for them. Instead of the entire stadium saying thank you, all you have to do is stand and that is what you are communicating. Thanks bro's and girls for your service. It gives them a sense of pride.

That is why, first of all, this is a terrible outlet for this protest-

It's a terrible outlet because you're doing something that you KNOW insults the ONE group of people in this nation who risk their lives FOR EQUALITY. That is how foolish this avenue of protest is. Attacking something that the one group of people whom are the biggest representation of equality take pride in. Low IQ thinking, it's being more divisive. People participating are being just as low as Trump. Backwards-ass thinking: "Hey dude, lets insult the one group who does stand for equality so we can tell the nation we want to protest for equality." wtf

Now you can think caring about the anthem and flag is silly, but most of our military men don't. You should consider their feelings earned through their sacrifice, instead of being like 'dude stop being so defensive and taking that thing that you used as motivation while deployed so seriously- were just trying to talk about equality here.. and if your just trying to tell me that it's insulting you then get a grip and get over it with your silly deflection and all pff''.

Kneel before the anthem, do your protest- the the message out American still has a lot of work to do. But show your character by standing for the anthem. I think most people would listen to that message more, by seeing a high character individual, then someone who they see as disrespectful and divisive. The avenue chosen is literally hurting their own message.

Nope. It's selfish. To make a protest that has nothing to do with you into an attack on you is selfish.

We don't drape ourselves in the American flag going into battle. In fact our BC didn't even allow us wearing an American patch on our plate carriers in Afghanistan.

If I a man whose lost the closest of friends to war and almost lost a limb in service isn't irked, no one should be irked.

Veterans do not own the rights to the flag. That's not how this works. And to assume that these athletes intents are to attack veterans is absurd and selfish.

Either we are a nation of laws, and protect free speech or we aren't.

Either all men are created equal or we are not who we say we are.

They are NOT disrespecting the flag, hell we have Underwear made out of the flag, so people literally have the flag nestled up to their brown and curlies, that is much more disrespectful than what is going on now.

They are protesting the racial profiling in this country primarily by the police departments, apparently all the videos of the police killing them for no reason was not enough....sometimes we have to do uncomfortable things to generate a conversation.

And please don't get me started on Nascar and the hypocrisy of the Confederate flag flying - THAT IS disrespectful to the US flags as it represents a group of traitors who tried to break up the United States.

So, for me, If the Rockets wanted to take a knee and make a statement - it is their right, and I support their right to do so, as well as the team.

So if ISIS or somebody blow up white house or world trade center you ignore? You don't treat them as terrorists? Way to mix up movie and reality.
