Again, tallanvor trying to step in as the employer when he has no business doing so. Maybe the NFL doesn't operate that way and values their employees more than you do. They openly went the opposite route and called out you Trump, you, and others like you, which is their right. Yet you seem to think *they* should be doing what *you* want. Again, you seem to think your opinion should dictate what an employer should do is relevant.
Interesting... those on the right who are now criticizing "employees" (football players) practicing their "freedom of speech" in their workplace were also supporting the 'freedom of speech" that a Google engineer used in criticizing his employer re: diversity. Or is such freedom in the workplace only protected when its supporting conserative positions?
Goodell is stuck between a rock and a hard place here. He is the commissioner of an overwhelmingly black league, whose players belong to a powerful union, with teams owned by many older men who gave money to President Trump's campaign. Once the president opened his mouth (and used words like "son of a b****" to describe a guy who isn't even playing football right now. I never though I'd hear a president say words like that, but lol), he put the NFL in a powerless position. The league doesn't want retribution against players because it would affect the on-field product, which would lead to further declines in viewership if teams had to fill their rosters with scabs. I think the decline in NFL viewership is an interesting situation that isn't easily answered by cause. I do think some people have made a political choice to watch less due to protests, but I also think factors like over-saturation (poor Thursday night games), a decline in the quality of play, concerns about head injuries, a boring way to spend an entire Sunday (the amount of TV timeouts is torture), ham-fisted team moves from San Diego and Oakland, blatant cash grabs with new stadiums and more have contributed to this perfect storm.
I didn't you just suck at reading. Apparently you needed me to write 'You don't do political protests at work or your employer usually fires you' instead of 'You don't do political protests at work or you get fired.' You didn't actually need me to write this, you are just being obnoxious and bad for discussion. he could of just said from day 1 when Kapernick didn't stand 'no political protests on the field' . Everyone would of been fine with it but Kapernick.
I think all of the Trumpflakes who are upset at the NFL and its players should boycott the games and merchandise. It is as simple as that. That will open more seats for the rest of us.
Don't forget, Kim Davis was also exercising her Constitutional rights when she refused to issue legal marriage licenses (that her employer demanded she lawfully issue) to gay couples!
yes, and them dumbass Trump probably would've commented "Remember when CK protested and the NFL shut him down? I told you I was right. The NFL told that son-of-a-b****, "You're fired!" And then this would have happened anyway. If you think Trump wouldn't do something like this, consider that the main target of his ire, CK, is not even playing in the NFL. And since Trump still has an issue with the NFL, he would've said it regardless. And players would've kneeled in protesting Trump. Because whether you want to believe it or not, this was all exacerbated by Trump. And he would've done the same if the NFL shut CK down. Because Trump can't help himself. So, believe me, this was inevitable. And if the NFL does something, Trump is going to open his yap and say, "See? I told you so." And if they don't, he won't shut up about it. This is what happens when you elect an egomaniac. Not only does he create a completely unnecessary shitstorm, he's also not doing his job well. Hillary Clinton would have been so much better just because she would act like a normal human being in all of these situations. It's not even one year. There will be more. Trump will not let this go. The NFL will not let this go. Even if they would've shut down CK, Trump would still say what he said, and the players would react to that. Get ready for 3 more years of this utter nonsense. The American people are going to learn the hard way not to elect a narcissistic, infantile idiot as President.
I can see missing the other two, but come on. If you are an NBA fan, you cannot miss what Abdul-Rauf did! Trump might eventually be the best thing for race relationship.
https://www.cato.org/blog/poll-61-o...nd-national-anthem-65-republicans-say-players Some poll numbers. 61% of all surveyed oppose firing players over protest. 65% of Republicans favor firing players. This is one poll and things can change of course. However, it confirms my initial suspicion that this move isn't turning out well for Trump. NFL ratings are also up this week-- maybe not because of Trump, but just doesn't look like there is immediately the dramatic business impact on the teams.
BLM protests institutional racism in the law enforcement and judicial systems, not white people killing black people. Your chart is dumb.
For all the people using the military/vets as a crutch in their argument: Rishard Matthews: 'I plan to kneel until the president apologizes' Matthews has always had a stance against racial inequality and police brutality, but he grew up a military brat whose brother died serving in Afghanistan. His dad served for 23 years. He felt conflicted by the use of the anthem as a vehicle for the protest, but he said Sunday night his stance shifted as it became more apparent to him that this message was more important than the method.
Then why are you using? If a poll was conducted for every military vet I guarantee you the majority of them would disagree with the anthem protest.
Certainly not the case in my experience. I have at least 15 good friends that either served tours in Iraq/Afghanistan or are currently enlisted. In all branches of the military. Not a single one of them disagrees with the anthem protest. But you're a Russian troll, so what would you know about our military?
I don't believe you and I am quite confident that I am not the only person here who is thinking that way.
Yeah, I'm sure the Russian troll, bigotexxx, and bobbytheflake probably don't believe me either. Oh nos!
