You're right, but they passed up a quality player in Melo that fits their gameplan against Golden State to take that risk. And Capela is not a great fit defensively when the Warriors go small. He isn't used to having to guard a guy like Green on the perimeter.
Melo is a quality player but he's 33 and not a star anymore, Capela has still upside, fits the team well too...and i mean, it's not like OKC is trading Adams for Melo, they're still trading trash like us but their trash has less impact on their cap going forward, that's the only difference, Ryan Anderson contract has always been a bad contract, no matter how much some of us don't like to admit this but that's the reality, and that contract is screwing us now.
Clint Capela fits against every team except the one the Rockets have to beat to win a championship. He is a defensive and offensive liability against Golden State when they put their small lineup on the court. He's stuck guarding Draymond 25 feet from the bucket and he's not an offensive threat. Melo is a floor spacer, and he's played on the perimeter his entire life, so you could let him guard an Iguodala and feel ok.
superteam!!! OKC = 3rd best team behind Warriors, Rockets??? How does this team work??? Another great NBA season coming up
They could have saved all that trouble by paying Harden that $4 million he wanted. Could have KD, WB, and Harden still if only owner was willing to pay $4 million more. $4 million!!! How he will have to pay $198 million next year if they bring all 3 guys back
Westbrook was playing with garbage they told me, no team would want those players he played with last year, they told me
Sachin Gupta had nothing to do with the success or failure of the Melo trade. He just got here, are you kidding with that stance?
All right, but I have my doubts about him because Hinkie got lucky with all those picks. He was of course unlucky because of the injuries too. Philly's gambles didn't pay off, for the most part. Edit: I just read that Morey credited Gupta with helping to get CP. Fine, so why shouldn't he and Morey be pointed for the Carmelo non acquisition?
If I had to choose which of the trades to be successful, I would choose CP. Would love to be batting .1000 too but real life sometimes gets in the way.
Just out of curiosity - what happens to his contract now, post trade? If the Thunders were to trade him to another team, does his no trade clause get voided for future transactions? Does his list stay the same for the teams he listed for New York? New set of list?
I hate to be petty and bump an age old thread regarding something irrelevant, but I've been communicating with this man on facebook since he got banned on this site. The bet was $500 the Rockets would be 2 seeds higher than the Blazers. Up until today, the bet was on, and the second we clinched the one seed he blocked all contact. Thought I'd share the irony of this.
