Doesn't matter if it wasn't a huge deal, not calling a timeout immediately there is a disaster. I still can't wrap my head around how that possibly happened. I feel like he had to think we had no timeouts, because otherwise how do you mess up that bad? 10 year olds who play Madden know to call a timeout there. It's not like he let 2-3 seconds run off the clock... he let TEN. How??

I have my doubts about Bill O'Brien, but are people really calling for him to get fired after this game? There's is absolutely 0% chance that happens lol. Get a grip people

You're like 62 pages, or a year and two days, late to the party. This season screams another 9-7 at best.

Fire Rick Smith for not addressing secondary and offensive line during the off season.

Those were maybe the only two options in his mind, but certainly not the only two good options.

I've been giving the OB the benefit of the doubt, and have really wanted to keep liking him because I think he does keep guys fighting for him and for the team, but my God he is an awful snap decision-maker.

The timeout blunder put me over the edge with him. Everybody in the f*****g world knows that you have to take that timeout there to give yourself a chance to get into FG range. I'm willing to bet there isn't a coach in the league that wouldn't have taken the timeout instantly.

The constant running of Lamar Miller between the tackles, regardless of down and distance, continues to baffle me.

Sad thing is that Deshaun will continue to develop and basically save OBs ass this season, buying him more time. We can only hope that ownership forces him to hire an experienced playcaller (ala Kubiak: Wade Phillips) after this year.

Isn't Andy Reid known to miss calling a time out a time or 2 also?

I'll take 9-7 if, at the end of it, we have ourselves a genuine franchise quarterback. Sucks they lost - but, man! Yesterday was the most fun Texan game in.... maybe of BO'B entire era; certainly the most fun since that first year when Fitzpatrick was a relatively competent QB and JJ Watt was Watting all over the place.

Nobody is confusing Andy Reid with some of the greatest coaches of all time.

Really solid coach... that also has these types of problems which is problematic for him.

As with the Rockets... we have a situation of upside vs downside. Billy is a good enough coach to keep the downside pretty high. But he's not a good enough coach to have a huge upside. If you move on things could definitely get worse. If you stick around, maybe one day he, Rick, the team all gel for one year ... maybe.

    Thank you.

Watson is succeeding despite BOB, not because of him.

Kid is special, but I worry this organization will ruin him.

But he got the most important position on the field right.

I think this team will be hamstrung until they get a real good OC. We'll be looking at slightly above average year-in and year-out. Yesterday was fun. From the QB, to the RBs, even Ryan Griffin showed up. And that front seven (thought it fell asleep at times) was doing work. But we also have to remember the Patriots defense is mediocre. The Texans offense won't always look this good.

BOB's inexperience and faults under pressure situations were exposed yesterday again. Clearly he needs to improve but at this moment one gets the sense that BOB is more likely to lose you a tight game than to win you a tight game. That's very concerning. That said, if the refs OR moore pull their head out of their ass we likely run out the clock and win.

As for running Miller on the 3rd and 1, I know for a fact if Blue is available he gets that carry and likely converts. Blue or Foreman have to get that carry but it's clear that BOB doesn't trust Foreman yet and went with Miller. I don't like that at all.

Build the defense, get a running game, then get your QB. That is not a bad formula. If you flip the order, you have Andrew Luck or Matt Stafford.

As much as I agree with this, I will say I was impressed with how different the offense looked yesterday. He tailored it to Watson's strengths - something he did regularly in his first season here. So that was encouraging.

He still does weird things (WTF is Miller STILL getting short-yardage, between the tackles carries?!?!) and he needs to grow a pair of balls (I was jumping on the 4th down decision immediately; does anyone doubt what Belicheck would have done there - if, for some reason, Belicheck was our coach and facing Tom Brady?)

But, I was mostly encouraged that this year might not be a waste of BOB trying to jam a square peg into a round hole.

If Texans would’ve played like this against Cincinnati, it’s a blowout

Every kid playing Madden would have taken a timeout.

I really hope he just thought he had 0 timeouts - it's too depressing otherwise. The Eagles had less time and were further away with 0 timeouts when they made the sideline pass that setup their game winning FG.
