23 yr. old CC's severely underrated around the league and in here. His natural progression and the presence of Chris Paul make him the X factor.

I'm gonna say he puts up 18, 12, and 2 1/2 on 67% from the field, while playing 28-32 minutes a game.

I probably sound like a broken record, none of those Poll options will be achieved if he doesn't increase his most important number Minutes Per Game. No one at 24mpg is going to post any of those numbers in the poll. Not even Deandre Jordan could reach 9 rpg on his 24 mpg before he did his big jump at age 25 to 35 mpg. (And note, DJ played with Chris Paul for two years putting up Capela-esque 7ppg/8rpg before his big jump in his 6th year.)

Capela does not deserve artificial minutes, any more than DJ did in his Yr 4 and 5 playing with Paul at age 23, 24, if Capela's production and efficiency numbers per 100 possessions drop with increased minutes.

    A better poll would be:

How many mpg will Capela get this year?
    1. 24 (status quo)
    2. 28 (DMo/TJ/PPatt numbers)
    3. 30
    4. 33+
His minutes will only increase with improvement. He must get substantially better than Nene, for instance, or Nene will remain a major platoon player.

fwiw: At age 23 and 24, DJ was playing with Chris Paul. His minutes and numbers remained just like always, and much like Capela's last year -- 7ppg/8rpg

Prime DJ did not start until age 25, in his third season playing with Chris Paul.

I think Clint will get more minutes this year. But I do think there are times where bigger guys push him around too much, sometimes even forwards do this which causes MDA to take him out.

The reason Nene is on the team is to match up with the bigger, more physical teams out there. Clint hasn't proven he can be an everyday volume player yet, so your criticism is valid. Let's just hope he gets there.

    I'm sticking with 16.

I think Capela has shown great progression - no doubts there. The question is his ceiling.

Agree. He needs to get to 30 minutes per game with consistently good play.

He better be worth it. He better step up and put up some serious numbers or Morey better have a plan to trade him for that third star.

It's not so much me criticizing him; I'm a big Capela fan. I'm just trying to describe a Chicken or Egg problem.

Bigs like Noel and Capela are always said to be on the verge of breaking out like DJ did. They cannot break out until they start playing starter minutes. And they won't play starter minutes any more than DJ did, until they improve.

That's not really a criticism of Capela, it's more a critique of whether giving one guy in a platoon system artificial minutes is best for a team with Paul and Harden trying to contend. And it is also a statement of my faith in Nene and Black...equal to my interest in seeing Capela increase minutes.

bottomline: Will the platoon system create the best per 100 production efficiency from the Center position, or will substantially increasing Capela minutes be better. If the answer is the former, then he won't achieve any of the Poll numbers.

"There is no darkside to the moon really. Matter of fact its all dark, the only thing that makes it look light is the sun."

I get where you're coming from but I think the reason to have a "platoon" to begin with is so we can match up better to other teams. Maybe Clint takes a step forward and shows more dominate presence or versatility, or maybe he doesn't and we go platoon. Clint is probably the best athlete on our team and has the most potential to improve, though. He's the biggest X-factor we have going into next year and I think he has potential to become a borderline All-Star type player. I believe in him but I also understand why we have Nene, Black to goon it up as well.

28-30 mpg sounds about right, which should be enough for Capela to average around 15/10. I think that it's too early to expect him to become a featured offensive player, which is what it would probably take for him to produce more than that.

I'm more concerned about Clint's defensive awareness and positioning. He'll need to take those parts of his game to a higher level if we're going to have a real shot against Golden State.

The better he plays, the better his trade value will be. No one will give up a star in a package for him otherwise. I voted for the last option on the poll, but I doubt if he will get more than 8 rebounds and make 55% FT, 13 points in 30 minutes is possible, if he can handle being out there, for that long.

That is a concern for me and rebounding too. He also needs to block and alter shots without getting in too much foul trouble.

I wish Harrell hadn't slumped after Clint came back from his fibula injury. He brought energy and defense while Clint was out, despite his poor rebounding. Our 4 spot is weak, which makes things tougher on our 5's.
