I feel bad replying to a troll, but .. Morey refuse to pay with capela or other good players, Melo ran out of patience because he just want to leave NYK.

Because "your mother was a Hamster"--Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Everyone knows that the Knicks didn't want the Ryan Anderson contract.

Easier to peddle Kanter & McDermott contracts

    Rockets still better than Maverikz

It's too bad we don't get to rate threads anymore. On the old version of the forum you could spot troll posts with ease but now trolls get to waste your time. This would have instantly been a 1 star thread.

f it, i'll put the troll on ignore list now. I used to keep him for entertaining purposes, now it's just boring since he always goes back to the same topic.

Troll thread but it was clear he wanted out of NY above all else. His preferred destination was obviously Houston which was why it took so long to get a deal done. When training camp approached Melo blinked first and expanded his teams out of desperation. OKC, while not as good as Houston, was still a very good destination for him. He's got Roberson and George who are both good defenders and he will play a similar role to what he would have played here. OKC closed the gap with us on this trade I think, we'll see how the season goes.

Morey was only willing to offer Ryno plus spare parts which NY would not take, and it wasn't good enough to get much from a 3rd team to give to NY...Melo wanted no parts of still being in NY once training camp started so since he had given Houston months to get a deal done and one still wasn't close to getting done as the start of training camp approached, he decided that he'd then be willing to go to OKC and Cleveland as well if it meant that he could finally get out of NY

I don't see any other explanation than that

I don't think it takes that much speculation.Carmelo had been saying for months that he wanted to come to Houston. It was his preferred destination.

We were in a waiting game to see who would blink first- if Houston would increase its offer, if New York would accept Anderson, or if Carmelo would accept going to another team even if it wasn't as high on his preferred destination list.

And Melo caved first. Why? He was obviously at the point that he had no desire to be in New York any longer. He obviously did not want to go through a media session during training camp while he was still with NYK. So he caved and expanded his list of teams even if they weren't as high on his list.

Melo would have been an exciting upgrade for us over Anderson, but it's not that big of a deal for us. We still had a great offseason and we have much more depth than we did last year. A 2nd unit with Gordon, Tucker, Luc and Nene is pretty formidable. It would not have been worth it to sacrifice that for Melo.

The surprising thing is that NYK really didn't get that much better of an offer. Both Kanter and McDermott are terrible at defense and they only got a measly 2nd round pick.

I feel like this offseason OKC really, unfortunately, just got lucky and was just in the right place at the right time. Both Indiana and New York had been trying to deal their frustrated star players for awhile and after not being able to get a deal worked out. It just seems like the Indiana and New York franchises got frustrated trying to make their deals and finally just said "ok fine!" and ended up trading their jaded star for whatever offer they could get- no matter how crappy it was.

It's an honest and legitimate question. People assuming this is a troll thread refuse to admit this is a completely fair question to ask.

yeah, it's frustrating...the PG trade pissed me off more because they didn't even have to give up a pick...they got both PG and Melo while only giving up 1 pick and 1 player that started for them in the playoffs

like I said earlier, Presti must have these GM's nudes

Do you ask, "Why don't good players want to play for the Mavrikz?"

I mean, OP, if you're not trolling then I feel bad for you that you can't comprehend why the trade to Houston didn't happen.

The 1st was not a hold up. Can we stop saying things as if it's been confirmed. I'm 100% confident in saying you don't know about the 1st. All you're doing is encouraging fools to be like "what???morey sucks. He should have given up a first" and creating fake story lines. It's basically trolling too.

Well, when the Rockets suck I won't be trolling over on the Mavs board. I would find better things to do with my time, such as smoking out reefer, helping my fellow man, bowling, frisbee golf, scouting for fresh trim, ordering popeyes through uber eats, and the like. I suggest you do the same until your Mavs get good again.

Does nobody monitor this forum? This thread is the most obvious attempt to troll of the MANY attempts to troll from this guy, but apparently he's just allowed to continue doing it and nobody takes down his craptastic threads like this. What in the hell is the point of the "report" button then?
