it's a shame that it would need to take Gordon/Capela to beat an offer of Kanter, McDermott, and a 2nd round pick...Anderson's contract had that much negative value
We're trying to beat the Warrios. If Melo was 27, then yes, Trade Capela. Melo is 33 and has been a headcase every where he goes, only reason we expected to work here was Chris Paul. We'll see how much he likes being frozen out by Westbrook in the 4th quarters of games once Westy has his 10 assists.
Nene and figure out a minor trade. Warriors sure as hell didn't have one last year, insert McGee and he fits. Our centers job is to rebound, play some defense and get easy passes to score in the paint.
The rockets need to be the team that finds Osweiler, not the team that overpays him. Honestly, no one expected Gordon to have the season he did. He would have been gone in trade, easily, had he had a mediocre but injury free season.
Losing capela or Gordon would have left us too thin in those areas. Anderson still provides spacing and shooting for us. The thing that sucks the most about this- Indiana reportedly turned down multiple first round picks from Boston only to accept a crappy deal of Oladipo and Sabonis.... And NYK repeatedly saying they wanted young players and draft picks only to accept a crappy deal of Kanter, McDermott and a second round pick... Seriously?? Kanter, McDermott and a 2nd round pick? With this I still think us and OKC will be competing for 2nd in West. And it still might blow up for OKC if Westbrook George and Carmelo leave.
Who does Capela guard when Golden State goes small? Durant? No. Iguodala? No. Curry? No. Thompson? No. Green? He can, but he's now stuck guarding 25 feet from the basket and not protecting the paint. Clint Capela doesn't help the Rockets against Golden State, just like Anderson. And they could've found a cheap buyout type center to pair with nene. Tyson Chandler as Cod said, is one such example.
Melo doesn't either though. Melo gave us a shot in the dark that in some playoff game against the Warriors he'd go off, get hot, and have a random Olympic Melo game. That was the hope with having him here.
Melo gives you a much better chance than Capela does. A lineup of Paul-Harden-Ariza-Tucker-Melo has enough balance on both ends to compete against Curry-Thompson-Iguodala-Durant-Green.
