did i lie, back when curry was on the sideline with ankle injuries, harden was doing this to 7 footers
I'd be worried about replacing Ariza for Melo... You just need lunch pail guys like Ariza, 100% team guys, guys whose every move is to serve the team. And...I like Ariza...Ariza is a cool dude, came to HOUSTON twice, he needs to retire a Rocket
we have our 2019 pick, and the 2020 pick in the 25-30 isn't much different than tillman paying $3M for the 35th pick anyways. also there were other players to spend ~$20M on if we hadn't signed anderson
how much better is he than tucker and prince luc though? we also have troy williams to fill in as well, and we'd probably run cp3/eg/harden the final 6min of tight games anyways
And we will need our 2020 one too if CP3 resigns. If he bolts and we are worse then we will also need that pick. A 2nd round pick isn't as cost controlled as a 1st. Players can hit FA sooner depending on how the contract is structured. Those other 20M players don't stretch the floor like him, which played a huge role in our regular season record. Discount him all you want but we don't have a top seed last year without him. Yes, his contract is bad but it helped get us to be an attractive place again. Without that CP3 isn't here and Harden prolly isn't resigned, similar to Westbrook.
That's true but they've nothing to lose at this point since Westbrook still has not resigned. In fact, even if they would lose all three of them next summer, these two last trades would still be good for them since they would've got rid of two bad contracts in the first place (Oladipo and Kanter), that would make their eventual rebuild easier too. Nobody is on the Warriors level i agree, and Melo at this point is NOT a star, but OKC has a very physical roster, they have the chance to be the most annoying match up for the Warriors if George gels well with Westbrick.
The 2020 pick is not gonna worth much anyway, we've never had a pick higher than #14 under Morey. Ariza has no value for a rebuilding team like the Knicks but he's an expiring contract so he can offer some cap relief for the Knicks and we take back Lee. And I doubt the Knicks would be interested in Eric Gordon because they are building around Ntilikina and Hardaway. So it's gonna take Capela to get the deal done. Ryno + Capela + Ariza + 2020 #1 pick = Lee and Melo
If Melo indeed would accept trade to OKC, then I 100% would trade Capela for Melo just to prevent OKC from stealing him.
he's also entering his 16th season. and though i love him for having missed very few games, his D and athleticism have noticeably fallen off already
This doesn't make any sense. Kanter is cheaper per year, has one less year on his contract, and isn't redundant with their best player. How exactly is Anderson exactly equivalent to Kanter?
I don't know man...i won't do that, in the end Melo would be good here, but he would be an upgrade over Anderson, not a real third star at this point, if you keep Capela there's still a chance you have a great asset to trade for a better player than Melo (like Cousins) later in the season, and even though i get there're doubts on Cousins, all things considered he would still be way better than Melo.
Provided they could find a buyout candidate center like Tyson Chandler, Capela is the best player other than Anderson to trade for Melo. He is needed less against Golden State than Ariza or Gordon.
You have no idea whether NO wouldn't get better offers for Cousins. Plus, I think DeMarcus stays in New Orleans for the long haul. He's from Alabama.
Ummm What wouldn't make sense would be voluntarily opting for either when your preference is to not have either. When presented with a turd sandwich or a poop salad, would you force yourself to eat the one you hate the least? Under your scenario you would. Most wouldn't and would consider your debate to be meaningless.
