Correct me if I'm wrong but the Thunder and the Cavs have even less to give the Knicks then the Rockets do. Considering that the Knicks and Rockets are most likely engaged in 3 team deals. This could be a play by Melo to put the ball back in NY court in the public eye since most of the media narrative was that Melo was being a bad guy by not letting the poor Knicks trade him somewhere other than Houston. One thing we do know is that Houston is still his preferred choice.
Morey advised Melo to cut a deal with NY Melo opens up his NTC to two other teams and NY trades him by a certain date then Morey tells Melo which 2 teams (who can't remotely compete with the rockets offer) to give NY game, set, match
It is not desperate, Melo is a HOF and a wanting teammate for the Rockets. We let this chance go, we will not see a dream time lineup ever. Having Ryan Anderson negates Capela. Morey has to ask Harden and Paul about the possibility of not going through with trade. If they both agree that lineup as is, then I roll with it. But if they raise red flags about not playing with Melo, you got to do the trade. Their mindset is playing together, if they don't it may linger for a while. Having a center makes no difference competing against Warriors unless we play a Dream-type offense.

If the Knicks need a Cavaliers' first-round pick for Carmelo Anthony, it's problematic CLEVELAND -- Any potential trade for Carmelo Anthony by the Cavaliers would have to include a No. 1 pick heading to the Knicks, which makes such a deal unlikely, a league source told cleveland.com. Numerous outlets reported Friday that New York reached out to the Cavs about Anthony, but no real progress was made (no parameters of any deal were discussed). The story, essentially, is that Anthony has "added" to the list of teams for which he would waive his no-trade clause to include the Cavs and Oklahoma City Thunder. Previously, only the Houston Rockets were on that list. But a source with knowledge of Anthony's thinking told cleveland.com that he always would've approved a trade to the Cavs, and would've considered Cleveland (along with Houston) if he were bought out of his $26.2 million contract. The Knicks have tried to trade Anthony to the Cavs before, but Cleveland did not want to deal Kevin Love in return. A source with knowledge of the Cavs' thinking said it still appears there is no interest on Cleveland's side in dealing Love for Anthony. If the Knicks, then, were still interested in sending Anthony to the Cavs, they'd likely need a No. 1 draft pick -- because the caliber of player they'd get (New York would receive multiple players to equivocate Anthony's salary) would be below Love or Anthony. Though thinking in the front office is always subject to change in the NBA, the Cavs would be more likely to wait this out in the event the Knicks can't find a trade partner and are forced to buy Anthony out of his contract. Otherwise, the Cavs (or Knicks) would likely need to come off their position related to Cleveland's first rounders for an Anthony trade here.
This is the kind of atmosphere we will have to endure here for the next few weeks, unfortunately. I think a great many people on this site drank too much of the kool-aid the fake insiders were serviving up. What we're seeing now is the end result of this.
For the Knick's purposes, I'd say Kanter straight up would be better than taking back Anderson. His deal has one less year.
Are you really comparing saying you won't welcome the best player in the world back to not wanting to trade a superior player for an inferior one? At best melo makes them slightly better, more than likely he doesn't move the needle or they get a little worse
I thought Melo would end up here for various reasons, and he still might if Morey decides to up his offer, but the delusion I'm seeing on here since last night is getting out of hand...from we should've gotten Melo before CP3 which wasn't even possible to losing Capela is fine because Ryno negates having him and GS won with Pachulia among other things
