I don't think that is it. Houston is offering a bad contract. More money and more years. Rebuilding teams do not want that.

Why are we offering that? because we can, no competitors and we do not have much else unless a 3rd team is involved. The Knicks do not have to take it. From a pure $ point of view, the play is not to trade for RA. But when you add in the collateral cost ... we will see.
    or
    the deal/teams change.

realistically, I don't know why Knicks are so concern with Ryan. Not like they are going to suddenly turn around right away, it's going to take at least a few years to turn that team around and change the culture. Ryan is a consummate professional and should retire a Knick.

Blatantly. Crystal clear. What? Think it more obvious he stays a knick.

if a joke, ignore above. Sarcasm is hard to read.

Realistically, they're looking at the deal as a 2 year undesireable large contract for a 3 year undesireable contract. Makes sense why they haven't pulled the trigger yet. Hopefully they cave soon.

The only reason to hold this press conference is to put pressure on Melo to act like a professional, which is sort of messed up...I think like Codman says, he will show up and say the right things and then IT BEGINS...

i understand that. But again. we had a deal on the table with a 3rd team willing to take Anderson's contract. Perry came in and scrapped it immediately once he got the job. At that point, either Dolan made him do it or his ego got in the way and it became a "I'm in control of this" type thing. To me it just seems like The Knicks are being hardheaded about this

We should throw in a protected 1st round draft pick in the deal. Lets win now!!! Make it happen.

Knicks are dumb. Anderson will be moveable next summer or maybe even the deadline for a future asset. Take him plus whatever now and figure the rest out later.

If it's about the future then why worry about the present.

Yeah, but is obvious they went out of their way to make sure they point out Melo will act like a professional...In other words, sorry Melo, we couldn't accommodate your wishes and sorry we back tracked on our promise, but be a good boy this coming week...I would be soooo pissed if I was Melo!!!

Sources have told The Post neither Anthony nor the Knicks want each other, but the inevitable divorce is being postponed for now. Perry admitted he hasn’t even spoken to Anthony this week but thinks he’ll be a positive influence on the young core.

Anthony, according to sources, has so far given the Knicks only one team for which he’d approve a trade – the Rockets. The Knicks have no traction with Houston on a deal, but the Blazers remain a possibility if Anthony becomes agreeable in the future.

I would love to have Melo for the GSW game.

But realistically we need to wait this out. Release would be the best case scenario and I think that option will be on the table.

The Knicks would be idiotic to allow this Knicks team to be a 7th or 8th place team in the East.

They need to tank to pick up some real talent.

I get you. The presser was driven by the questions. If melo deal is done and over, the questions are about the org and basketball from the FO point of view. They real couldn't say much else. It was utter BS, but they were stuck.

Expect the same thing to happen Monday if Melo still there.
