It more & more seems like The Knicks don't want Melo going to Houston primarily because he'll finally be HAPPY here. If Melo comes here and we're immediately contenders, challenging GS, how does that make the Knicks look? You had a superstar player who you devalued and took for granted for YEARS. Now he's gone and you still suck. Melo's been their scapegoat but in reality the Knicks have been terrible before Melo got there. They'd rather trade him somewhere they know he won't do anything significant, hence Portland

This is music to my ears. If you start Melo, he stunts the development of his successor at the position. He also takes away shots from your would-be primary option among the young core. Knicks would still run the old plays for Melo, which prolongs the installment of a good chunk of plays for would-be primary scorer. And if you don’t treat Melo as the franchise player on that team, good luck with the damage control.

 

I feel like this is a polite way of calling people dumb.

Melo loves his teammates and will do right by them. But **** everyone else who thinks he's gonna just be understanding of this situation. They did him dirty last year, not even by what was said but by allowing Phil to constantly do it and no one stepping in.

 

Why hold this press conference in the first place?

1. You haven't really gotten a hold of Melo and you're trying to tell him to come into camp, using the media. Hoping he throws a tantrum so you can save face and trade him.

2. You want to prolong this offer into the regular season and continue to play mind games.

3. You are the New York Knickerbockers and you really don't know what you're doing.
