Fair enough, but who are they going to chase after if they can't make the playoffs in the East? What big free agent is really looking to move to a non-competitor? Gotta win before free agents want to join you. They'll still have cap space with Ryno, just not as much. That franchise needs to focus on winning.
not sure who'd they'd go after...I agree that u gotta win 1st before hitting it big in free agency, but that's their plan and Ryno would reduce their cap space by 20 mil and might not even be a starter there...I think they plan on putting Simmons at the 4 and have him be a point forward for them Fultz Reddick Covington Simmons Embiid
Veteran presence wouldn't be a bad thing either. If I'm them, I believe in my youth and need players that are going to make the youth functional. A lot of those dudes are going to be bosses in the league soon, so getting a high profile player to bring them into the light isn't providing a lot of independence for the young guys. It's making betas out of potential alphas. They really need to build a winning tradition now if they don't want to screw this blessing they have up. Time is perfect now. Embiid is healthy-ish. Simmons is healthy. Fultz is ready for the league as a rookie. That's a lot of talent that needs to know how to win. Shooting is going to help all those players. They can all create if they have space. Reddick and Ryno can space that floor like you wouldn't believe.
I think for the Sixers also doesn't make sense to get Anderson cause while he's still the better shooter, Saric at 23 is already better in everything else, rookie contract for 3/4 more years...i mean, it would be a bad move cause Ryan just has a bad contract, there's no reason for a team like Philly to burn 20 million in cap space and minutes for guys like SImmons and Saric for 3 years, Anderson is just not worth that. If they wanted a veteran they could've easily get someone with a cheap contract, like the Suns did with Dudley for example...and btw Philly just signed Redick, that's another reason why they wouldn't want Anderson, veteran, basically same kind of player, just in a spot where they've less guys to play.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, it's just that Ryno's contract is too big for them to want to take. He's not worth reducing your cap space by 20 mil, and they recently signed vets like Reddick and Amir Johnson. If he was an expiring then I think they'd take him in a heartbeat, but with the contract that he has, it's just not worth it for them. They made it clear during free agency that their plan was to preserve cap space for next summer. "The Sixers have told agents they will seek one-year deals this summer to preserve future space -- and possibly use some of their current room to extend Robert Covington."
Sixers are saving all their cap space for LeBron and the knicks wouldn't want him because they already have three centers in Willy, O'Quinn and Noah This might sound crazy but that's a playoff roster in the east, albeit accompanied with a first round exit but they should be the eighth seed. Just wait til they move Covington to the bench and add LeBron next summer
I think they're a playoff team in the East too if Embiid can play at least 60 games (big if) and Fultz and Simmons can be above average starters as rookies Sixers are a League Pass team for me, all that talent on their squad will be so much fun to watch
I sprung for the full tv pack, there so many good games on every night. Two of the most surprisingly competitive teams last season were the knicks and sixers. Knicks brought it every night but had a lot of last second losses. When Embiid is on the floor the sixers are a tough team, he just can't stay on the floor but that squad is so underrated, they have Saric, Luwawu-Cabarrot, Holmes, Anderson on their young bench and on some good nights Stauskas can go off. I've really become a closet sixers fan despite how they did Hinkie dirty
Sixers are my favorite team in the East...I love Embiid and Fultz was my favorite player in this draft class I'm hoping for them to do well...a young core of Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid could be really scary
According to a lot of "experts", Lebron, Westbrook, George all wants to go to Lakers next summer. Lakers has been even worse than sixers in past few years
Yeah, but if you get a group together, you can transplant success that way, sure. That's still a situation where the group is guaranteed contention.
If that does happen I'd almost feel bad for OKC. Harden KD Westbrook all winning while OKC became bottom feeder
