ESPN loves creating storylines out of nothing...Melo isn't going to Portland, it's not happening, it's not an option...stop

I think they agreed to it if Melo trade went down

To play devils advocate. By Melo leaking he's cautiously optimistic a deal gets done by Monday, wouldn't the Knicks just ignore that deadline to get him to open up his options so THEY can snatch a better deal? All they have to keep saying is "we don't like what Houston has". The goal is to piss Melo off into waiving his NTC, so they can get back value they intially ruined with Phil. What leverage do we have?

Melo is letting everyone know, for the hundredth time, that they have not succeeded at convincing him to stay (which was the Knicks last official statement on the matter).

they can choose to ignore it, but Melo won't be happy, and they'll then have to deal with the drama and dysfunction that still having him on the roster will bring

Do they want KP to have to go through another season of Melo drama? Do they want Frank to have to deal with all that distraction? Do they want Melo demanding that the offense be run through him and taking away shots from KP and Timmy? It's their choice.

Melo is dead set on Houston and has been for awhile now. At this point, I don't think u could get him to expand his list unless something crazy happens.

during last year's regular season, his list was reportedly just the Clippers because of CP3 and the Cavs who are no longer an option...I don't see him ever adding teams like OKC and Portland

Portland is irrelevant and not that good, and Melo choosing to live in OKC? I'll believe that when I see it.

Right. But would Melo really want to accept being back to training camp, or just open up his clause to another team? I'm sure Melo's just as frustrated being there as we are waiting for the Knicks to stop playing and trade him here. I just hope the Knicks aren't going to drag this out just so Melo will waive his clause to their benefit

My concern isn't Melo staying. My concern is him saying "f-this, i'm not coming back. jus trade me to Portland or OKC". Which is what the Knicks want

Won't happen. He is a seasoned pro at this game. He doesn't hate New York and won't let Knicks dictate where he goes.

I think that he's ready to attend training camp in NY if he has to...I don't think he'd fold and open up his list

the Knicks dragging this out can negatively affect them because of some of the reasons that I've mentioned so we'll just have to see if they're willing to deal with that

they clearly don't want him...he's not in any promotional stuff and Steve Mills didn't mention him once in that piece he wrote a while back...there's also reports like the one from Woj that stated that the Knicks couldn't imagine a scenario in which Melo and Timmy were sharing the floor once the season starts

Do they really want to drag this out throughout training camp and the season? KP already skipped his exit meeting this summer. How will another year of dysfunction affect him? With Melo gone, they can finally start a new chapter and focus on their young guys.

this portland stuff is crazy. Chris Paul + James Harden >>>>>>>>>> Damian Lillard + CJ McCollum, it's not even close. These pundits are just throwing out their names like they are all superstars on equal footing, "oh well both teams have two superstar guards and some very good support players..." NO. lazy analysis.

I would do Harden plus multiple 1st round picks for Melo but NY isn't stupid.
