If Miss Texas didn't call Donald Trump a white supremacist it isn't an equivalent comparison.

Hill didn't say the President should have handled the situation differently or that she disagreed with the President.... she flat out called him a white supremacist and that is why she is being called out rightfully on it.

Donald Trump is the worst President in memory but Hill was completely out of line for someone in the spotlight and as an employee of ESPN.

She needs to be fired and the issue dropped. She was incredibly unprofessional.

I am honestly surprised she hasn't been fired.

Most people don't survive their political rants and ESPN has shown they aren't afraid to get someone off the show.

For what reason is Trump the worst president? I am genuinely curious on why you think that? I am not disagreeing with you but curious.

This is a perfect example of someone who got their information from a secondary source instead of listening to the context of a conversation.

Most of if not all of these are not what "he" said.

There is NO WAY ESPN fires Hill for this. There would be a HUGE athlete backlash. The NBA and NFL players would rally to her. They would boycott ESPN. Michael Smith and Jemele Hill are the 2 most popular black anchors (top 5 total) on ESPN. There is a reason they gave them the 6pm eastern SportsCenter.

"Aren't afraid to get someone off the show" - the only 2 I can think about are BS, who was fired because his rants were threatening to ESPN's ability to make $$$ (going after NFL), & Curt Schilling, who TBH added very minimal value to the company. LeBatard goes on political rants ALL THE TIME. But he's a major success at ESPN and adds significant value. Jemele is no different. Additionally, as others have noted, if she were to be fired there would be a massive backlash from the NBA, at a minimum.

what does it matter, they're already getting killed by the "left" for accepting her forced apology. i mean seriously, they did her a favor by not firing her and her supporters are still not happy. of course the other side is pissed because of the hypocrisy espn has shown with others who did lose their jobs.

also not sure why she's so popular, her takes suck, she fugly, and her voice is irritating. not ideal for sports television role imo.

She sucks.and I always hated her Kobe dick riding ass.

However the most hilarious hypocrisy is Reality TV Host Donald Trump tweets calling the president a racist. LMAO

no, that is my case for why donald trump is at the very least, someone with racist tendencies.

    and the conversation was thus...
you are ignoring the actual reasons people have for saying trump is a racist and going off on this simplistic strawman argument that its all about political affiliation...sad.

as for trump supporters, of course not all of yall are racists, but yall definitely have no problem supporting someone who at the least has racist tendencies.

there are so many things trump has said and done that should have been disqualifiers for conservatives and christians and non-racists..but yall were willing to compromise your morals to support someone who conducts himself like trump does.

No prob. I searched for something like that because I couldn't remember if Shilling was ever officially told by ESPN to stop saying such things or if it was something they just never publicly acknowledged until they decided enough was enough.

I wonder if ESPN actually hates all this or if they're wanting to use this to help themselves. Maybe there is a market for a show on ESPN that covers social/political topics in addition to their sports coverage? I don't know. I don't watch ESPN other than for specific games and have never watched the Hill/Smith show, so I wouldn't be the target audience. But since this is getting so much attention maybe they can find out how to take advantage of it.

Maybe, just maybe, they can use this to (help) make ESPN great again.

    Haha.

The way to make ESPN great again is by putting people back in that know sports.

So much more interesting to hear real knowledge being displayed.

I feel weird saying this, but there are too many women on my sports shows that no nothing about sports.

Gotcha, well in that case, I suppose I should take the time to respond to it then.

One of the problems with illegal immigration is that among the ranks of Mexican illegal immigrants are rapists and drug dealers, this is just a fact that is undeniable and it's not racist to point it out. The context of the original comment was talking about how illegal immigrants weren't examples of the best Mexico has to offer and it was pointing out how many of them were very bad people who shouldn't be in this country. Again, not racist, not evidence of Trump being a white supremacist.

That's one possibility, but the more likely scenario is that he was just butt hurt about losing the case. The popular mischaracterization of the "Mexican rapists and drug dealers" comment is a reason why some bias could exist though. Still really stupid to bring it up....but stupidity isn't evidence of someone being a white supremacist.

The travel ban was not a Muslim ban and there's no case that would stand up to scrutiny suggesting it was.

Perhaps, but for this you are going back to the early 70's to a company only recently taken over by the person you are accusing of being a white supremacist.....and there wasn't a finding of fault or liability in that case. Pretty flimsy, but if you want to push a narrative, it's better than nothing I guess.

Yet another dishonest take from you. You are conflating 2 different groups of people, you do realize that Charlottsville BS with the torches and the chants was a different night than the "Unite the Right" rally right?

Also, while certainly it was probably the largest gathering of Nazis and white supremacists in modern history given their absolutely tiny numbers nationally, it doesn't mean that every single person who showed up to protest the removal of the statue was a white supremacist or Nazi.....or bad person.

I mean, saying that there were "very fine people" on both sides is one of the few well thought out, accurate, and nuanced positions that Trump has seemingly ever taken....kind of odd for people to whine about it. Also, funny enough, when people point to the AntiFa douchebags who showed up with weapons and attacked the protesters, people quickly pointed out that they weren't representative of all counter-protesters....funny how one statement is seen as accurate and the other is seen as standing up for the white supremacists Trump just denounced in the same statement.....but again, when you have a narrative you desperately want advanced, you do the best you can amirite?

The actual reasons ARE political affiliation. When Trump was a big Hillary supporter 8 years ago and one of her donors, were people calling out Hillary for being supported by a white supremacist? Did we see complaints about how her and her husband were coddling with this white supremacist in pictures?

Of course not. The narrative wasn't invented till he ran as a Republican....even if "evidence" is used from the 70's.

I do agree with this though, and it's the reason I have never been a Trump supporter. Honestly I never thought he'd have a chance at winning due to the things about him that should have been disqualifying.....and then they ran someone worse against him and here we are.
