You say 6%. According to a HuffPost/YouGov poll, Trump's absolute floor is probably around 14%. That’s the share of Americans who say both that they approve of Trump’s performance as president, and that there’s almost nothing Trump could do to lose their approval.

People who Trump can never lose their approval:
    • 14% of Americans
    • 38% of those who currently approve of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as President

    http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/tabsHPWinorLoseApproval20170809.pdf

So I'd say, the actual percentage is somewhere in between 6% and 14%. Probably more on the higher end IMO. Why else would "nothing Trump does, lose their approval"? Either way, certainly enough to sway an election.

That's based on an assumption that every hardcore supporter of Trump is a Nazi/White Supremacist/Racist....and that's just not a supportable position.

The numbers when it comes to people who support white supremacist groups are down around 6% and that's where I get my numbers from. Numbers for KKK support is more like 4% and Neo Nazi groups is like 2%.

Again though, if those numbers were sufficient to sway an election, Obama never would have been elected because those types would have been MUCH more interested in voting against a black man than against a white woman....you know, because logic.

I think it's pretty obvious that the talk of white supremacists, racists, and nazi's is just part of an attempt to demonize everyone who doesn't support a particular political perspective....and pulling BS like that is part of why Hillary lost. The major reason was that she was one of the worst candidates for president in the history of the country and realistically should have been ineligible to run after the nonsense she pulled while secretary of state.

Typo aside, this is an excellent post and the section in bold is particularly relevant.

Also, the fact that ESPN fired one person for something and didn't fire another person for the same offense is immaterial. Maybe Curt Schilling was an ******* and difficult to work with and him equating Obama to Hitler on Twitter was the last straw? Conversely, maybe Jamele Hill is - despite how you feel about her content - congenial and hard working and respectful to her fellow employees. I'm speculating on both accounts, but those of you who work in (or have worked in) a large company or organization know that typically when a long-time employee is fired, it's rarely because of one incident.

"Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before." -Jacob Riis.

There is a whole lot more context to the declaration than merely immigration. This is just willfully ignorant horse crap.

Ah yes, it does go beyond immigration, it's "you don't agree with me politically, thus you are a white supremacist". That's the current level of political banter coming from the left today, it could be any topic.

Actually it's quite the opposite. Many people voted for Trump despite not making sense "politically" for them; or atleast in regards to policy. As it was with their own family's healthcare coverage, they will cut off their nose to spite their face. They will support a Muslim ban, even if their family doctor in their own rural American town is a Muslim. American values and compassion be damned. All Muslims are BAD! All immigrants are BAD! Stay the **** out!

The "wall", rescinding the DACA program, and the Muslim ban was a symbolism of that; where it doesn't make neither economic or practical sense.

Yes, so the people who continue to support such a man who symbolizes division, bigotry and hate will be associated with the same descriptions.

You mischaracterizing the policies and arguments of others doesn't really help you build a case, you know that right?

There never was a "Muslim ban", and a travel ban wouldn't kick out someone's family doctor.

You are essentially just saying that those who support a travel ban from failed states in the middle east base their opinion on xenophobia and you are saying the same for those who want to do something positive to combat the problem of illegal immigration, which is just a slightly different version of "if you don't agree with me politically, you are a white supremacist". I certainly hope you don't think that you are going to convince anyone of anything with those antics. It's just doubling down on the same nonsense that helped torpedo Hillary's campaign. It's just strawman nonsense that should be instantly ignored by pretty much everyone.

it's a pretty mainstream idea for those on the left ever since Donald Trump stopped being a Democrat 8 years ago or so.

'mainstream idea"? So do the Left have any proof he's a white supremacist? So in other words, if you're not a Dem you're a white supremacist?

To a pretty large group within the left, yeah, that's pretty much how it is. If you don't agree with them, you are a nazi/white supremacist/racist/bigot/homophobic/transphobic/xenophobic Trump supporter. There's just no room allowed for any diversity of opinion.

Oh, you want the US to secure the southern border as part of an effort to address illegal immigration? You must be a xenophobic racist, only possible explanation.

Oh, you want students accused of rape to get due process of law? You must be a sexist rape supporter, only possible explanation.

I mean, sadly that's the state of politics today, and it's not that new, it's been this way for at least a few years now.

Well, I don't know all of the proof. We do know that he had to settle a lawsuit based on his real estate interests discriminating against minorities. We do know that he has appointed people who have neo-Nazi affiliations, expressed white supremacist ideas, and has said that there were good people marching with those in Virginia who were chanting neo-Nazi and white supremacist chants.

We know for a fact that he has done those things. That may or may not mean he's a white supremacist. But these things could certainly be used as evidence for those that wanted to make that case. So it is very possible that it has to do with that evidence and not just that someone isn't a Democrat.

Even without all of that evidence, there is no evidence that labeling Trump a white supremacist is based on the fact that he isn't a Democrat. So jumping to that conclusion is baseless either way.

Really? So if Trump was still a Hillary supporting Democrat as he was oh so recently, there would be people out there calling him a white supremacist? I know you don't believe that.

I'm fascinated with all of the polling you've done of people on the left and how you determined how large that group of lefties are. It's also strange that you've ignored the video evidence of Bannon and Stephen Miller talking about reducing legal immigration.

I'm sure it's fun for you to pretend that these folks have some sort of conspiracy against folks, but it doesn't make it actually so.

So....even if I assume that people like Bannon and Stephen Miller have ulterior motives for their support of certain policies (because it's simply irrelevant to the conversation), does that then mean that EVERYONE who supports that policy does so for that same reason? I think that's the point you are missing here. Also, by using that type of "logic", you undermine your earlier suggestion that the type of "logic" you just used wasn't mainstream among the left, unless you consider yourself a radical.

Also, just to be clear, it's not really "conspiracy", it's just political spin used to demonize anyone who has a different opinion. Essentially the main export of the left these days.

No, but that is because he wouldn't have run for President and he wouldn't have been campaigning for the votes of racists. Donald Trump may not be a racist, but he sure plays the role incredibly well.

Well, that's partially true, but if he were saying exactly the same things only he was running as a Democrat, it wouldn't be spun the same way. If 90's Bill Clinton were running as a Republican today pushing exactly the same policies he was when he was running for president in the 90's you'd have people saying he was a racist, homophobic, white supremacist. It's just how it is.

those who reach that conclusion using the little evidence you provided don't consider the massive amount of evidence that doesn't support their conclusion. how can jellybelly hill say trump is a white supremacists after what he did for jennifer hudson and her family?!?! or what about barbara res, the mar-a-lago non-discriminatory policy change, the sick jewish kid he provided his own plane for, the black bus hero he personally rewarded, his jewish son-in-law, tons of charitable donations many of which support large %s of minorities, etc... don't get me wrong trumps is a conceited asshat but a white supremacists?, LOL!!! give me a break.

btw..., the reason she can is because she's cherry-picking "facts" to support her OPINION while proclaiming TRUTH and FACTS. fack people like that. she validates the joke, liberalism is a mental disorder, with her behavior.
