If I was NY, I'd be more worried about pissing off CP3 than Melo, NBPA bosses usually get whatever they want within reason (see Fisher, Derek) for pretty obvious reasons, and going through with something you promised, is within reason.

giving this strategy a try! There is so much garbage on this post and this forum in general now that I just usually scroll down a page until I see a posted tweet then read the comments.

no worries man, it's all good

yeah, I don't think they have ever offered the Knicks Kevin Love...during the season it was reported that the Knicks were asking for him in a Melo trade but the Cavs were refusing by people like Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne

"The New York Knicks have been unsuccessful in their attempts to engage the Cleveland Cavaliers in Carmelo Anthony-for-Kevin Love trade talks in advance of the NBA's Feb. 23 trade deadline, ESPN has learned.

League sources told ESPN on Wednesday that the Knicks approached the Cavaliers to gauge their interest in swapping All-Star forwards but were told Cleveland was not interested in such an exchange.

The Knicks, sources said, would have gone to Anthony to discuss waiving his no-trade clause had Cleveland shown interest in the deal."

"The New York Knicks continue to pursue Kevin Love in advance of the Feb. 23 trade deadline despite the Cleveland Cavaliers’ unwillingness to part with the All-Star forward in a deal for Carmelo Anthony, according to league sources.

Sources said the Cavaliers, meanwhile, do maintain an interest in Anthony — which would pair him with Cleveland star and close friend LeBron James — but only if a deal can be struck without the league’s reigning champions surrendering Love."

This was before the trade deadline, and during the summer, there hasn't been 1 credible reporter or dude on Twitter with sources like Potato that has said that the Cavs have have changed their stance and have now been willing to offer him up. We know that the Knicks were after him, and even if they don't want him on their roster at this point, he can still be traded to a 3rd team for decent assets that will benefit NY. For example, it was reported that the Nuggets were willing to give up Gary Harris and their 13th overall pick for Kevin Love heading into the draft. Love has more value than Melo because he doesn't have a NTC, is younger, and has 3 more years left on his deal (although he does have a PO after that 2nd year). If the Cavs ever offered up Love, then I think the Knicks would take that deal in 2 seconds. IMO, the 3 things that the Knicks would be interested in from Cleveland are Love, Crowder, and the BK pick. Love has been a "no" from Cleveland for months. Any deal involving the BK pick will have to include a rising, young star like a Porzingis or Devin Booker or established star under contract for multiple years headed to Cleveland along with Melo. It's hard for me to see something like that happening. I just don't think it's that likely. If it's an established star, you have to match his and Melo's salary in a 3 team deal, and an established star or rising star isn't on the market very often.

I see where you're coming from tho. Overall, the main reason why I'm not worried about Cleveland is because Melo took them off his list for a reason, and I don't see how they became a more attractive destination for him after doing so. The Cavs don't even know when IT will return, and the uncertainity with Lebron still remains. The Cavs have very little confidence that Lebron will remain in Cleveland. Hopefully this Melo deal gets done before camp or the start of the season at the latest, this has dragged on long enough. Get it done Morey!

That was my point exactly. Why trade a guy like that only in the hopes of drafting a guy almost as good. Unicorns are rare after all.
