If he had left Tom in for more sacks he might have gotten brain damage. Six was enough for 30 minutes of football, don't ya think? I don't think he is necessarily demoted. Watson still has a lot to learn, and isn't that accurate. Honestly, I was ready to see him come out when he did, but I am not ready to give up on him being the starter this early in the season.
Time to put the Texans gear in mothballs and start wearing Rockets gear. This team is an embarassment!
This has another 2-14 season written all over it. At least if we tank we can have a high draft pick....oh wait never mind!
Maybe they are just stupid. Use of running backs has been an issue under obrien every year no reason it won't be this year. At this point I'm convinced he can't handle decision making during a game.
KJ is coming off season-ending injury. He either hasn't fully-nearly recovered yet or he will never be the same again. They'd better figure out incorporating Watt-Clowney-Merci too.... assuming JJ isn't already finished.
Why didn't Foreman play more? BoB obsessed with his playbook he won't play guys until they learn it to a certain level. When really you have to put in guys who can make plays. Even just in spots.
I'm wondering if he really isn't 100%, and still has some hamstring or groin issues that haven't mended completely.
I don't have a problem with that idea at all. I said that before the season started, and people acted like I was crazy. Honestly, we could use both their assets in different situations, and I still like the idea best.
This weekend.... - Texans lose big - Astros lose big... over and over - Indians can't lose, ever - Cows win Typical H-Town Sports I already don't care as much as younger years, but I might force myself into caring even less. It's not just this season, nothing's changed my whole life, save MJ retirement. It sucked before my birth too. H-Town Sports
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ses-the-quick-hook-for-houston-zero-surprise/ Nothing was less shocking than watching Texans coach Bill "Quick Hook" O'Brien yank his starting quarterback shortly after the first National Anthem was complete. He's like a baseball manager who always prefers who's in his bullpen to that day's starter. He managed to best his own land-speed record from two seasons ago when Brian Hoyer was yanked a few minutes into the third quarter of the opener. On Sunday, Tom Savage only made it to halftime before first-round pick DeShaun Watson replaced him. I've been writing and talking, half-jokingly, about Savage getting the Hoyer treatment -- Hoyer was toggled in and out of the job throughout 2015 before ultimately taking the team to the playoffs -- but O'Brien's lack of patience with his passers can't be ignored. No one starts a quarterback controversy quicker, and no one seems to second-guess his choice as starter faster, either. And Savage's first half was dismal -- with seven completions and six sacks and several turnovers. But Savage got little help. With star left tackle Duane Brown holding out and the Jaguars frothing at the mouth, the reserve linemen didn't get much extra help in protecting Savage, an immobile starter trapped in a pocket that sometimes collapsed before it formed. And to top it off, the Texans have a Thursday night game at Cincinnati looming. Not ideal. Even if the Texans break down and give Brown a new deal, he ain't gonna be back by then, so I suspect O'Brien will go with the more mobile rookie because they are going to have to be able to make plays on the move and outside the pocket given the limitations of the offensive line. That's not Savage's game. Watson flashed well and led a nice drive in his first series, but there are going to be bumps in the road. At this point the Texans would have been better served by giving the kid all the reps the past few weeks if he was going to take over 30 minutes into the season, anyway. While Houston's quarterback revolving door was to be expected, the degree to which the Jaguars manhandled them at the line of scrimmage caught me off guard. The Texans' defense has to be elite for them to reach the postseason again, and they got pushed around far too often Sunday. Blake Bortles was allowed to ease into the game and never was exploited. Heck, they never even turned him over. They gave up 142 yards on the ground. J.J. Watt was working through some rust. They'll need to get much better on that side of the ball ASAP. Deshaun Watson Can't Mask Houston Texans' Real Issues Quarterback may be football's most important position, but improved quarterback play will only go so far when the line protecting him is flawed in its construction. Texans' defense perpetrates biggest offense of day
Crazy we wasted an entire offseason with Savage getting the first team reps. Was glad to see BOB with the quick hook tho. That was way worse than I ever saw Osweiler. Pretty bad. The Jags defense is finally looking elite. Big names everywhere. We're a joke of an NFL offense. Just not even close. I think even with DW4 accuracy/decision making issues we can move the ball with him back there. Did Braxton get ran out of bounds by Ramsey every play? The one time he was on the screen that's what happened. He hasn't shown ****. Strong outside and Braxton in the slot may be a bit of a better look next week. Hopefully at least one of out TE's doesn't have a concussion lol. The defense was brutal. All that hype job by Watt pregame for them to look sluggish and like they were playing in mud. I haven't seen our team look that dead in years. BOB might have lost these guys, sure looked like it. Reminiscent of the 2-14 team. We weren't even close to matching the Jags energy. Props to them. Terrible time to have a short week but hopefully we can continue to own the Bengals
Who would you start at QB? Spencer Tillman: Doesn't matter at this point in time. Which QB will get the offense moving? OL will determine some of that. I would stick with #3 but would have that short hook if the offense isn't moving. Spoiler
