Nope. I loved his voice and still remember trying to sing along to "I Believe in You" as a kid.

His music was like a novel. Many of the songs are the same, but it was so damn good you don't care.

I still remember him from Smokey and the bandit.

"Lord I hope this day is good" is my favorite song from DWilliams, with "I beieve in you" a close second! His songs weren't fancy, they were however heartfelt, relevant and sincere! Another giant has fallen...:(

    RIP... Mr. Donald Ray Williams!!

    The sequel, you mean.

Grew up listening to him, nothing crazy, just old-school classy country with an amazing voice. Too many great songs to list or play.

    "The Gentle Giant" RIP

Honestly he's not one of the first names that comes to mind when I think of country music singers of the 70's and 80's. Then I start thinking of great songs of that era and its amazing how many hits he's had. He kind of quietly had a great career.

Karaoke-ing that song got her attention, and then she was around for 2 years.

Also, had a "serious" late night discussion with one of my buddies at Kay's regarding who sang this song better; he said Waylon, I said Don Williams. I'm still not sure.

DW. Plus I prefer the music to his version over Waylon's.

I like walyon's version better. It has more drive and it sounds more western. Don's is more popish and polished. Both are good but I think Waylon's is better.

My top 5 in no order: Willie, Waylon, Isbell, George (you pick which one) and Don Williams. RIP
