The ingredients are certainly there with the lineup, but I cannot be totally confident. We have two starters that we can reasonably count on to get us to the 7th in Verlander and Keuchel. Lance may pitch well, but he is closer to a five inning guy. So, that leaves the bullpen carrying a pretty heavy load. Other than Giles, who do you feel good about coming out of the bullpen? Peacock maybe? Martes and Musgrove have the stuff, but the experience is wanting. Let's go through the rest of the bullpen: Harris? Nope. It's been a while since he looked good at all. Devo? No way. He might be shot for the year. Look at his appearances since the All Star game. Gregerson? Absolutely not. Sipp? Liriano? Feliz? Hoyt? They should not make the playoff roster, but one of them will. Anyway, I hope you are right.
Absolutely- now, I'll be the first one yelling and screaming when (not if) the Astros win the World Series one of these next 5 years. But even if they do, after a week of the euphoria, it's back to normal. I clearly remember 1994 and 1995- I was on Richmond along with 1,000s of others- and I celebrated my head off- and then within a week, it was "Hmm.... worried that they can't make it 3 in a row." So, yeah. I was in the Summit for that Stockton shot. You could've heard a pin drop after that. My friend and I were shocked, so we went to the Roxy afterwards (or City Streets, I forget). All I remember is that I was so "I don't give a ****" that it was the only time, ever, I actually picked up a girl at a nightclub (well, there was another, but I was drunk, she was very heavy, and I don't remember a damn thing). So, I was actually over that one by the next morning (it helps to have someone commisserate with you). So, my advice is, go have lots of sex, lots of booze, or smoke some weed- or do a line of coke or something. Matter of fact, that'd probably be the best thing- just snort some coke and you won't even care about the last 2 days.
They started their own Astros fan site to have mature and responsible discussions devoid of emotional posters
I've had more fun this season than any other, by far. I've been very fortunate to attend 12 Stros games this year- and have some really good seats. At the last game I went to, I was 3 rows from the dugout and Morales was in the row right in front of me for half an inning. Ahhhh.. And last but not least...
Still hovering at .500 after the ASB ... lost too much momentum Time for Hinch to set the bullpen in order. No more experimentation or hoping guys would get better Sit Liriano (lost at least 4 games for us), Feliz, who else? Let the remaining bullpen pitch 2 innings at a time
12 game lead over Indians at AS Break...and its gone. The injury excuse doesn't work either because they've had their share of injuries all year. It's about stepping up when it counts and their lesser regarded players are doing that. Good thing Angels still suck. Still time to get everyone on same sheet of music but these Sept days are going fast! In meantime, let's hope one of our aces can stymie this deadly A's attack Something lost in this is team is missing potential opportunity to catch Dodgers for best record! I know numbers say team has done better on road, but having home field in Houston after Harvey, I think, has potential to be a big emotional booster for team.
I think if you'd asked every Stros fan before the season if they would be happy with, with 3 weeks left in the season: tied for best record in AL 14 game lead in AL West Justin Verlander in the rotation best offense in the AL (MLB?) I'd think just about everybody would be pretty, pretty, pretty good with that.
I also wonder if anyone noticed the team that everyone claimed a few weeks ago was unstoppable is 1-14 in their last 15 games now. I'm pretty sure LA isn't freaking out, nor are the Astros, who are 7-3 in their last 10. What teams were doing 2 weeks ago is not what they are doing today, and what they are doing today is not what they will be a month from now.
Momentum is the big worry. We've become accustomed to losing lately. The worry that we peaked too early is a concern.
