    Woj said this on August 15th, and Kyrie was traded on the 22nd...I'm just saying

    teams expected more aggressive conversations closer to the start of training camp for a reason, that's the 1st deal deadline coming up...I'm chilling until then

    The Knicks clearly don't want Melo (not in any promotional stuff, Steve Mills not mentioning him once in that long piece that he wrote, the Knicks stating that they want to get younger and more athletic, and reports like one saying that the Knicks don't envision Hardaway and Melo sharing the floor)...we'll see if they really want the distraction of Melo still on the roster come training camp and once the season starts

    Yeah, Woj really seems a bit clueless since joining ESPN, maybe speaking too much is just not for him, and i guess he has to make something up to cover his minutes on tv...

    More appropriately, Mills hasn't agreed to which bad contract he's taking back. But he's agreed to move Melo before training camp.

    Melo has all the leverage here. He's staying quiet. But if he doesn't get what he wants he's going to opt in and screw the Knicks over. They know that. It's over. They're not going to risk him doing that. They're simply deciding which form of the deal they're gonna do and waiting till the last possible moment to execute the deal in hopes they can make it better somehow. Melo is for all practical purposes a Rocket.

    In essence 19 days fits the CW that has been reported/postulated/whatever. Not assaulting you, but frankly if there is a deal 'set' then waiting puts pressure where, exactly? Saying, we deal in next 48 hours or we are not dealing puts pressure on DM the GM and any prospective contributing team. Not everyone is on a canal in Venice and going to il teatro...
