    What's good fellas..sitting here in Florida waiting on Irma to come through and just wanted to check in on the thread to see where we're at.

    With the effort put into this thread alone it would be a travesty of justice for Melo not to end up in Rockets Red.

    AW: Couple of other issues. This is a great September conversation. Free agency is done. Everyone is waiting for camp to start. Carmelo is unlikely to be moved.

    ZL: We should talk about Carmelo.

    AW: Let's talk about Carmelo. Houston right now just does not have a pathway to do a direct deal with New York, based on what New York wants. Melo has not really waived the NTC. He's not really open. Maybe that happens. New York is hoping he opens it up. Portland would love for him to open it up.

    ZL: I think Portland wants Melo even more than people realize. They really, really want Melo.

    AW: It really fits for them. You plug Melo into that team...[tangent on Portland blahblahblah] ...They have some picks they can give. They'd be really good with him.

    ZL: They can also be the 5th seed. JVG said this, none of this matters. The Warriors will destroy everyone. I've been dying to ask: he signed his contract in the summer of 2014. It has an ETO. ... If you trade for Carmelo, I don't know where his head is at but he should probably not opt out of $27.9M. If a team like Portland or the Lakers trades for him, you have to assume he's on our books for $28M for another year.

    AW: That's why there's so few teams interested at that number. On a buyout, sure, everyone is interested. Does he opt out? I don't know how he gets it back. Dwyane Wade was similar. He was not opting out of that money. He may get the buyout eventually but...

    ZL: Any chance Carmelo doesn't report for camp if he's still with the Knicks?

    AW: A few people have brought that up. I guess there's always a chance. I would say the idea of Melo taking a fine everyday, I would think he's less apt to do that than other guys. If he opens up his no trade to more teams & they still couldn't find a deal, then you can say, "OK, you guys haven't done your part." But when it's one team, it's harder...
