Received a Red Light Camera Violation from Sugar Land I am wondering if it is worth the effort to fight the ticket. (Meaning can I win - it is 75$) (What does losing mean besides 75$) They seem to treat it like a parking ticket. If late they add 25$ on it. I don't think it goes on my driving record either way. I think it is given to a collection agency versus a warrent being issued any one know anything different? Rocket River I didn't do it!
i say lawyer up. you gotta show the man that they can't just do whatever they want with you. consequences will never be the same
I got one 6 months ago. Ridiculous. But ya I would just pay up and move on. Pretty hard with pics n videos proving it.
Not sure how accurate this is, but it seems worth looking into. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/TN/htm/TN.707.htm Sec. 707.019. FAILURE TO PAY CIVIL PENALTY. (a) If the owner of the motor vehicle fails to timely pay the amount of the civil penalty imposed against the owner: (1) an arrest warrant may not be issued for the owner; and (2) the imposition of the civil penalty may not be recorded on the owner's driving record.
Could failure to pay your red light camera ticket affect your ability to register your vehicle? There had to be a catch with these red light camera tickets. This is where they can get you. If a driver fails to pay their red-light camera penalty after it is sent to collections, that information may be sent to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and a scofflaw hold, or a vehicle registration hold, will be placed on the vehicle’s registration until all unpaid penalties have been paid. §502.010; §707.017. This does not mean that every county decides to go through the trouble of placing scofflaw holds. As for Fort Worth, according to Fort Worth’s violation information website scofflaw holds will be placed if violation fees remain unpaid. To the contrary, www.trashyourticket.com lists Tarrant County as one of the counties that does not place a hold on your registration. (This information is based on either news articles or reports from people with outstanding tickets). Additionally, since Dallas can no longer report to credit bureaus the plan is to start using registration holds to maintain their red-light camera safety program.
Pay it and move on with your life. You don't want to pay an attorney several hundred dollars to basically get you deferred adjudication and have you still pay court costs. You don't want it to go to collections because some states will not let you renew your license without all of them paid. Just pay the $75 and keep an eye out in the future.
The Woodlands used to have red light cameras until they abandoned it years ago because it was losing money lol. I got caught once, paid my bill. Months later, they cancel the red light cameras and all violations FML. You maybe able to not pay it, but is it worth the risk? https://patch.com/texas/woodlands/montgomery-county-not-going-enforce-red-light-camera-tickets
I got one here in the Humble area about a year ago. They have sent 4 letters in that time, the last one said it was going to "collections and may not be able to renew my registration". I'm calling their bluff.
Why do people want less traffic enforcement when there are so many bad drivers on the road? I wish there was a red light camera when I was in a T-bone accident. It would've proved my innocence instead of the cop ticketing me.
