I was debating with a friend... who is white... and another friend... who is Hispanic(?) about where Rednecks are. One says "only in the South" and another says "everywhere." I think they're everywhere but some say it's just a Southern thing. AND, spare the "insensitive" crap. I'm asking a question here... because this is probably the most diverse bunch I know... with peeps from all over. No one is saying anyone is inferior or superior... I only want to know what you think. Let's keep it civil. What is your opinion? Where are the "Rednecks" in the United States of 'Murica? BONUS: to what do the "cheeseburger" and "confused" options reference? All my polls have these options.
Depends entirely on your definition of redneck. Trailer trash? Hillbilly? I can tell you for a fact that there are a shitload of white folks out here in the PNW who would consider themselves "country folk". Big trucks. Big guns. Deer head decor, yards full of engine grease, etc.
Most JJ Fatt fans fall into the above category so yes they are prolly all over murico but esp in texas esp these dudes bobbythefail, nigel thongberry, big texxx etc
My neighbors are rednecks. Their 4 wheelers cost more than their cars, confederate flag flying high along with the Texas flag, park in the front lawn even though the driveway is right there, have spent the last week or so in the surrounding Houston area helping people with their Jon Boat. Also they say they hate Donald Trump and wrote in Condoleezza Rice on the ballot but I have a strong suspicion they did not vote.
Indeed. Many rednecks (hundreds) risked life and property rescuing their fellow men, regardless of race, religion, etc... I saw an interview with Erin Burnett with two white guys who described themselves as rednecks. I could see through their voices that they were personally hurt that a large percentage of the populace equated them to the KKK and the Nazis. Sometimes being a redneck is just a cultural thing, nothing more.
Outside of the cities. In the "country", poor rural areas. That's everywhere, from the richest state all the way to poorest, everywhere has poor rural areas.
Ya that's true. I grew up in west Houston, didn't know too many real rednecks. But after living in Lubbock and la Porte I can tell you that it's cultural. That's not to say there are not racist pos rednecks but all of my neighbors who are rednecks go out of their way to show they aren't racist pos. Actually the neo nazis I see on the news don't look like rednecks at all. They look super clean cut, like dudes you would see trying to steal your girl at the club. But honestly best neighbors I've ever had. Just pulled up to my house and they are helping the single mom across the street rip her carpets out (Hispanic woman with African American children). My perception of rednecks has definitely changed. I don't think the confederate flag is necessary but none of my neighbors are bothered by it. But ya they are def rednecks, they are damn proud of it too.
