Interesting that Cam mentioned in his post-game interview that the Astros coaches immediately worked with him on his swing and bam, HR
Is that 6 HRs on the year 4 all season and 2 with us in only 5 games? Someone has taught this guy how to use the square button to swing instead of circle.
So, is there anyone left that doesn't think we improved both our pitching and our offense for the playoffs?
Don't get too excited yet. Posters were ready to anoint Centeno as the next Mike Piazza and his current WAR with Houston is below 0.
He only has to be better than Aoki to make the claim and its already a fact that his defense and speed is better.
Maybin - or, should I say, MayWin - has had a nice start, and last night was awesome. But he's essentially late-inning glove/speed and to expect more is setting yourself up to be disappointed. Correa getting healthy - and back to form - is the key. (And I'm good if Springer continues to rake as he has thus far in September.)
We added: AL steals leader (tied w/ Altuve) that can play all 3 outfield positions (at least competently) and hits well against lefties. One of the top 5 pitchers of his generation and a guy that's in the midst of an excellent second half. Additionally, he's seems to be extremely motivated in a "Clyde in the '95 playoffs" sort of way. His pacing around the mound last night... the nervous energy... hitting 99 on his final pitch. Dude's ready to get to work... I'll quote the Cleveland Indians legendary former catcher, Jake Taylor... He's been working on his mechanics with the Astros hitting coaches since he got here. I'm guessing it's similar to the adjustment they made with Jake's swing. 6 HRs in his first 336 ABs. 2 HRs in his 14 ABs with the Astros.
