This went from being one of the most infuriating games to a completely satisfying finish, glad we got the win for our new ace!

Excited to see Lance tomorrow. We'll know early if he has the goods.

Hope Lance can control his own nasty stuff. If he can folks, we're in for a long run ;)

Great seeing this type of post again (positive franchise history). It's been a while.

He's arguably beyond Wagner-level for franchise history, IMO. Billy has a better regular season resume, but we already know he SUCKS in the playoffs.

    Since the 80's (at least)....
    Lidge
    Giles
    Wagner

Hope they keep Giles down tomorrow regardless of the situation. No need to throw him out there four times in five days.

I believe the Astros went through a few week stretch where their entire offense was equivalent to having 9 Paul Goldschmidt's on the roster. Once we're full strength there's no better offense in the league, but there are always going to be hiccups along the way due to the volatility of baseball.

That was a pretty good right handed Dallas Keuchel with a 95 mph impersonation last night out of the pen. His line didn't look dominating (1 hit, 1 K), but he mowed through the Mariners.

I half expected him to get the 9th inning too given how he was rolling with only 20 pitches, but I guess Giles looked ok.

Add Peacock, Devo, and Will Harris to that pair and I'm suddenly feeling ok about our pen in the playoffs.

of all the photos posted of KAte Upton at the game, she was never once on her phone. That makes her alright in my book.

Holy **** Giles my man. He has really made himself into a elite closer the last two months. 3 strikeout in 10 pitches?? So close for a immaculate inning.

I think the last Astro to do that was Chad Harville.

Musgrove since late July, 24.2 innings out of the bullpen, only 3 runs allowed.

In other words, lowest ERA among relievers with at least 20 innings. Defense-independent stats show a very similar picture.

So we finally like Ken Giles? Just wait til he gives up a baserunner in his next outing, or god forbid a cosmetic run scores.

Verlander looked as advertised, hopefully LMJ can complete the trio.
