Woof, how frustrating. Verlander can't win us the game here if we don't get a few hits to plate some runs here. He's doing his job, the rotation needs to step up.
This is perfectly fitting to me. As much as been made about how little run support Verlander has gotten this year, and how terrible the Tigers have been... it's only right that in his first game in an Astros uniform, this lineup can't even hit the ball.
Astros have had a fair amount of trouble against LHPs all year (and really the last few years) and it doesn't make much sense. 17-21 record against them reflects that. As for JV, man I haven't felt this comfortable with a SP in a while. You just feel confident with him on the bump.
The fact that Miranda has a no-hitter should prove detrimental to him here as Servais is forced to leave him in 1 inning too long. Middle of the order pounds him here.
