I quoted my significant other's reaction to the news. Why? Because it was an honest response and I had just heard it. She is aware of Fertitta's activities in the Galveston Bay area over the years as a developer, as am I. We don't like how he's carried out many of those activities and what the results were. I don't doubt that there are a variety of opinions about what the man has accomplished as a developer. That's fine, but why you have fixated on the idea, as you seem to be, that it simply must be impossible to have a contrary view of this sale that has no basis in sports is a mystery to me. You seem to believe that I'm gratuitously defaming the man. It isn't gratuitous at all. I hope the Fertitta turns out to be a fine owner. As a fan of the Rockets, I would be a lunatic to wish for anything else. I just wish that it was someone else buying the Rockets. Simple as that.
I didn't know much about the man. It's sad to hear that there are some questionable things about him, but this was also true of the new Astros owner and he has turned out great. I'm curious as to what his view of the front office in terms of strategy i as well as his willingness to pay some luxury tax. But even golden state didn't want to pay the tax, which is why Durant took that bizarre discount
Just amazing that people can get on here and say a guy that just bought a team for $2.2 billion is cheap...
This is the best case scenario because Fertitta REALLY wanted the team, possibly more than anyone else bidding. And it's not his first bid on the team as well. In this latest attempt, he practically went "all in." You don't put up % 71 of your net worth just to watch THAT investment go to ****. And you don't go all in unless you really want something. This franchise immediately becomes his baby and that might mean going all in to win a title.
Heres a nasty one from one of the gals at landrys corporate office: Tilman used his family member as company lawyer(I think brother) to fleece the original landrys from the landrys family. The story I heard was the lawyer wrote up some documents shifting ownership to tilman. The documents stated "in x years tilman will get it all"and were slipped in to other documents as is customary when working with lawyers and paperwork.. The Landrys family signed unwittingly and when the time came the Landrys folks were evicted from their own sh**it. If we could track down Jessica Henderson of the Landrys family she could share the story better. In forbes he sure doesnt want to talk about it: https://www.forbes.com/sites/calebm...aurateur-has-a-secret-its-not-about-the-food/ Of course it started with a loan to him at 23 years old to buy a 160 room hotel. That totally sounds legit. Most with humble beginnings are excited to talk about it.. not hide from it yet his story has some eyebrow raising things that HE HIMSELF wont talk about. This guy is maceo crime family. Sad day for rockets and legit people of the world
He's gotta have smaller partners because he doesn't that type of money on his own. Either that or he's way over exposed.
Nah doesn't work that way, otherwise rockets would be owned by some investment bank. Not sure nba would allow that type of financing as well. Too risky, could have franchises go bankrupt and foreclose.
