You guys are acting like billionaires are just growing on trees... how many people in this world have a net worth of over 3 billion? And how many actually care about Houston Rockets Basketball?
Since he bought the team, I doubt he's cheap + he can get investors involved and if he somehow blows things up to save money, he can say goodbye to keeping CP3 and losing Harden in the process. His best bet is on getting a trophy to attract more money. We might not get a rebrand though, unless he understands he can sell way more jerseys and such by rebranding.
He could of formed an investment group with Mutumbo, Dream, Beyonce and gotten that number significantly down.
plus nothing's stopping him from getting other (silent) investors buy in or infuse capital if need be and btw
A rebrand is good for Houston, but it comes with the risk of diluting the brand equity in China. I assumed that's why the current regime has been so scared to make changes.
True. They got to keep having Chinese talents come over to Houston and Chinese sponsors hovering around the team.
So let me get this straight... A man who built his empire to what it is now,,, Can't tell the difference between how to run a food service empire and a basketball team?? And he will run them the exact same way?? For real? I guess that's why there are so many billionaires. Yes he will cut costs. As he should. Are people really thinking that he won't play for good players that are worth the money or something? FWIW... He has been involved with the Rockets since the championship years. Apparently he has rings from being on the advisory council for the team.
I logged on and discovered this. What terrible news. I personally can't stand Fertitta for reasons I've mentioned before in other threads since Les decided to sell the team. I had hopes of Alexander finding another possible owner with deeper pockets and less blatant greed than a man without a care in the world for history, which describes Fertitta. While I would love to be wrong, since I care far more about the future of the Rockets than I do about the greedy ******* with hints of corruption attached to him that has now purchased our team, my opinion is that this will not end well in the long run. Again, I hope I am wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. What a depressing way to begin the day.
just read through the thread. I wonder if there's any correlation of the Tillman Frittata haters and all those folks who hated the Mike D'Antoni signing. c'mon, let's see a show of hands.
