why would LBJ demand to have majority of Cavs capspace on 2 PFs who aren't good enough to be 2nd options and have no PG to show for?

If Lebron wanted Melo so badly then what was stopping him from forcing the Cavs to trade Kevin Love for him? They've had the opportunity to do so for months, and that would've sealed a Melo deal in 5 seconds. The Cavs didn't want to give up Kevin Love for Melo, so Kyrie for Melo was never gonna happen.

They'll get back together. They're hanging out a bunch, and rumours say they're working on things.

so you're educated guess is based on those rumours you assume Melo will withdraw what he has requested and won't waive his NTC for houston?

did NOT say it would happen just that it WOULD happen IF LBJ demanded it; big, big difference!

see response to Reeko; and question: why would I try to 'outthink' whatever it is that LBJ might think?

Lebron would've never demanded something like that so it doesn't really matter

trading Kyrie for Melo makes zero sense and Lebron isn't dumb

The reality can change at anytime. But the reality is what the reality is.

Lol hopefully the actuality meets the reality in space and time and Melo is officially traded to Houston.

    And who cares? I don't. ;)

What I care about is this endless waiting. I'm not even entirely convinced that making a deal for Melo is a good move by Morey. Half the people jonesin' for Melo seem to have the idea that Mr. James of Cleveland will come here if we get the fellow from New York. How likely is that? And that Wade would follow him and/or Melo (which would be far out, in my opinion, if it happened). I saw the ESPN article about the Banana Boat last month and during that entire cartoon presentation, they managed not to mention James Harden at all, and there was more speculation about LA and New York than Houston. Isn't that a bit bizarre (of course, it's ESPN, so I shouldn't be surprised at all)? And does LeBron really want to win the all-time prize for ring chasing by a superstar? Maybe he does. Maybe he just doesn't care what people think, and if he doesn't, I'm cool with that.

Having said all that, color me very skeptical. The longer this drags on, the more skeptical I am. Sure, it could be training camp or beyond before a deal is done, if a deal is there, but I'm as tired of this waiting as everyone else.

    Argh!!

No. Melo could still be willing and have the trade not go down. I think New York won't ever be happy with the trade packages we're offering around Ryno and would rather stick it out with him for another year and re-visit than take back a contract that has 3 years remaining

Why are so many people overthinking this. The Knicks clearly want more than the Rockets are offering. No other teams are in play to get Melo so we are at a standoff. The Knicks are acting like theyve moved on from Melo, and Morey knows that. So the Knicks are going to sit back and hope Morey sweetens the deal, and if he doesnt then they have to make a huge franchise decision. Trade Melo for 50 cents on the dollar or keep him and stop your rebuild for probably 2 years.

So .. if the Knicks keep Melo this year, he will opt in for his $28M for next year. I don't see another team giving him that much money. That is one reason the Knicks will trade him. They don't want to take the chance he does.
