That includes rookie running back D'Onta Foreman (groin), veteran Alfred Blue (high-ankle sprain) and speedy Akeem Hunt (hamstring). Blue is expected to be sidelined for as long as several weeks after getting hurt during a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints. Foreman and Hunt are closer to being healthy. Reserve running back Jordan Todman made the Texans' roster after joining the team late in the preseason, impressing the coaching staff with his special-teams ability and burst in the open field. The Texans have some flexibility at the position, which is headlined by Pro Bowl alternate Lamar Miller. Reserve running back Tyler Ervin is capable of lining up in the backfield or splitting out at wide receiver.
That #1 pick has been playing like street free agent and wasn't going to be starting. Before this trade, there were reports that he was on the trading block or he might get cut. And that 3rd string QB has experience starting AND WINNING regular season games. Dorsett was going to be gone anyway.
Dorsett had 500 yards at 16 yards per reception his second year. He can stretch the field. It's not first round production but he doesn't suck I wish we could find a street free agent who could do that. I wish Strong, who we traded three picks for, could do that.
Which is why I asked the question about Weeden. I think it is too early to give up on Dorsett but the Colts clearly have. They were going to release him if they couldn't find a trade partner.
I must be in the minority since this hasn't been mentioned yet, but $7m/yr for Fiedorowicz? Seems to me like he provides $4-5m/yr of production, tops. I think you can get better value by having a TE on a rookie contract. For those of you that know more than I, chime in with his strongsuits so I can feel ok about this extension...
