To me, it looked like everyone on the Horns sideline thought they were just going to walk through Maryland and the road to greatness was going to be easy. The problem is, as much i would like to sit here and say the players are only going to get hungrier from this, I can't do it. Especially after 3 straight losing seasons where as much as they said they were "playing for Charlie" they never actually improved.
Hard to not conclude that Herman is all talk based off of today. Too many Longhorns are spoiled. They don't deserve to be treated like kings in Austin and have state of the art locker rooms.
Ha that's how I am at this point. Just need to see improvement this season. Maybe this is just what the players and coaching staff needed. None of the hype matters if you are willing to let the guy in front of you push your $hit in.
It's kinda like watching your ex hook up with someone really super high maintenance and otherwise unsavory while you were ring shopping. I admired the hell out of Tom while he was here and I have no doubt he could have maintained a Top 25 program at UH for decades to come. Although I was put off by his departure, he didn't deserve what I saw today. If this keeps up, I'm not sure he will get a chance to rebuild UT. Watching what could have been a wonderful marriage between a coach and a program turn into a pile of ashes up in Austin would be painful. I know Tom always dreamed of coaching UT, but they say you should never meet your heroes.... for him, this might be why. I mean damn, booing and throwing trash in the first game for the new "prodigal son" head coach. Jesus, horns.

No Tom deserved this. He knew exactly what he signed up for. He is one hell of a coach and I believe he will get this straightened out. Still, he is being paid extremely well, burned a lot of bridges and is a big boy; he can deal with the criticism if he wants to get the praise when they win. He said UT was his dream job (well until Bama or 2-3 other jobs are available) so he knows the drill.
New coach, same team. Herman is likely a much better coach than Strong, but he's also the "arrogant prick" type of coach, meaning he's going to rub a lot of people the wrong way if he doesn't turn things around quickly. Will be interesting to see how the rest of this season plays out. It's a rough early start to the season with 4 ranked opponents in the next 6 games (3 currently in the top 10).
What was up with the attendance? 88k is kinda low for an opener against a p5. Is this hurricane/holiday related?
Tom Herman is such a fraud. Guthless, thin-skinned p***y who has only done things with other people's players. Separating those trailer-trash-done-good in Austin from all of that jack is so hysterical. God's work I tell you.
Minimal. As of last weekend, there were still 10k tickets left. Letdowns really starting to take its toll, obviously today was another big blow. Herman has his work cut out for him.
For the last 15-20 years, we've not really done any September day home games, with good reason as it's pretty miserable and people were getting dehydrated and such in the 1990's. Not sure why they decided to have an 11am this week and a 2:30pm next weekend. After today's performance, that game against SJSt is going to be basically a half empty stadium, I think. But UT in general has struggled to sell out games the last few years.
