Were you not the dude looking for Pottery Barn at the peak of the storm? LOL. I could be wrong, but that was a fantastic clutchfans moment.
He's worked his ass off these past several days, but he also told people that the controlled releases would not flood any new structures. I have plenty of friends and neighbors in the West Memorial area who know that is bullshit. Granted, he may have been fed a line of crap from the Army Corps. Of course, those are the same peeps that said the Katrina pumps in NOLA were doing great, but still...........I don't trust everything Jeff is pushing.
I managed to make it down to Brazoria today in order to rescue my animals down there who were in a REALLY bad situation, 288 is fully open and once you get into Lake Jackson you can take 2004 to 36, it's just about the only way in.
NOPE. They even said so themselves. The uncontrolled releases happened on the north side of Addicks, and I'm sure there were a few homes up there that got flooded even though the uncontrolled releases were only a few hundred CFS--a small % of the controlled, and not enough to account for all of the extra new homes flooded in the areas I'm talking about. It was the controlled releases that flooded new homes along Buffalo Bayou below the confluence of the Barker and Addicks release sites. I'm not saying they didn't need to make the volume of controlled release that they did (although in hindsight, they obviously could have constrained Barker a bit while they got a better handle on Addicks), I'm just saying that their message that no new homes in that area would be affected was patently false.
What you are referring to is still because of the uncontrolled release. They originally intended to only release 8000cfs of water at a time, but when the uncontrolled releases started happening they had to bump up the amount to 13000cfs. Also, they already were releasing a lesser amount out of Barker than they were Addicks.
No problem... Once I get a hold of some videos I took from my escape from hell I'll try to post. Problem is I recorded from a friends phone and she's being a b**** and doesn't wanna share them
NOPE again.....although at least your last sentence is correct. Although they could have constrained Barker even more. They originally planned to ramp up to 8,000 CFS at BOTH locations for a total of 16,000 CFS. But it doesn't matter if they were releasing a cup or an ocean every second. They claimed (early on....later they admitted this was "new territory") that the releases would not flood any new structures downstream from the confluence. I have a lot of friends and neighbors whose homes flooded in sunny weather who call bullshit on some of what was said.
