Apologies if this has already been posted... I bought this today....very appropriate to this site right now, so thought I would spread the word. 100% of proceeds to be donated to Mayor Turner's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. http://store.nba.com/Houston_Rocket...s_Fanatics_Branded_Red_Houston_Strong_T-Shirt
According to snippet I saw from RRC, it is just demand as people are worried about gas shortages. People worried about shortages are creating a shortage as transportation of gasoline just isn't handling increased demand. That said, it seems like they would be ready for increased demand as people typically freak out about gas shortages when Gulf Coast gets hit.
People in ****ing Marble Falls are lined up at the HEB right now. Can't get around the parking lot at all.
...but while Irma is worth watching as Texans, we are probably going to be on the sidelines for this. The important caveat here is that Irma is 10 days away from the United States, and there is a pretty broad divergence in model tracks after just five or six days. So there is absolutely ton of uncertainty when we try to talk about effects 13 to 16 days down the line (if it were to track westward into the Gulf of Mexico eventually). But here’s what I can say: When we look at the European model and its ensemble tracks (these are about 50 different runs of the European model with slightly different starting conditions), we can get a realistic range of possibilities for the storm. Here, then is a map showing the most likely location of “Irma” in the European model 10 days from now, based upon the ensemble runs, and second-most likely: Spoiler If I lived in Florida or the US East Coast I’d be pretty wary about this storm. But because it is so far out from making a US landfall—if it even does come into the United States—I am not prepared to rule out anywhere from Laredo to Maine. For now our advice remains the same: Watch Irma if you want, but don’t worry about the storm. The odds seem pretty low that Irma will come to Texas, and if it does we’ll have plenty of time for warnings. Plenty. of. time. Yellow blob near Africa Can you tell that we’re in the heart of the Atlantic hurricane season? Yet another storm is likely to form over the next week or so in the deep tropics (it would become Jose). Our best guess is that this will become a “fish storm” and not affect any major landmasses. But we’ll be watching this one, too, just in case.
Amazingly Irma is already a major hurricane. It went directly from TS to Cat 2 last night and is now Cat 3.
Granted, that parking lot is always jacked up Labor Day Weekend. I find it funny that the Governor asks for evacuation and Austin and Dallas can't even handle normal freak outs over gas shortages. During Rita, I was forced to eat steaks for 3-4 days as everything else was sold out in Austin. Damn, I forgot how good I ate during Rita.
I hope Mack finds a way to buy the Rockets. Dude deserves it. Didn't see Fertitta opening up Bubba Gumps for evacuees!
Before hurricane Texans: Where's my beer as we aren't evacuating? After hurricane Texans: Oh s@@#! It is the end of days! We're running out gas!
Fertitta drowned a WHITE TIGER in shallow waters for FUN. FACT - look it up. UH should be banned from all competition.
Tried to get to Bay City and Wadsworth in Brazoria County each of the last two days for work, both via I-69 and 288. As far as I can tell, there's still no way to get there. Maybe via Galveston and up from the South, but I'm not doing that drive I'm guessing it's going to be cut off from the world until next week. It would really suck to live out that way. If it rains this weekend, those people are screwed.
Genuine shortage from? Exactly. Panic from tv We learned from FDR to just ignore panic and fear. I do not even acknowledge it. But thanks for making me.
288 should be clear now, but 35 isn't and won't be any time soon. I thought I needed to get to the city of Brazoria, and I now have a clear path to get there, but the specific area I need to get to is way too close to the San Bernard river which I understand is WAY out of its banks and so the only way I could get to that property would be via flat bottom boat or canoe.
When I worked at the Kemah Boardwalk he was known for walking around and firing people for slouching. I never actually heard of anyone getting fired in this way, and never even actually saw him at the Boardwalk, but I'm just passing along what my sources told me.
Where has Fertitta even been throughout all of this? I haven't heard a peep out of him unless I just missed it.
