    1. The "story" is receiving too much attention.
    2. People are more mad that he's a snake-oil salesman than they are about him opening the doors to the Summit. The flood thing is just the latest excuse to point to what a non-Christian entity the whole thing is, at least to those with a more traditional Jesus-centered interpretation of the Bible, versus the whole prosperity ministry thing.

    Anyway, I couldn't believe when I heard this Olsteen thing covered by national news yesterday. Sheesh. More important topics in Houston alone, never mind the country. Modern American culture just loves a good shaming, so here we go.

    You've all probably noticed the higher rain chances towards the end of the forecasts on TV by Tuesday/Wednesday and may be wondering why that is the case. Unfortunately, we are still in hurricane season and the threat for more is there. Currently, computer models are showing another system form off the coast of Brownsville drifting north/ne or e. This is something we are going to have to keep our eye on.

    Edit: Great news. The latest euro is out and it buries this system deep in the Bay of Campeche. We still need to monitor what happens with it but that is a positive sign.

    Tropical Weather Outlook
    NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
    200 PM EDT Wed Aug 30 2017

    For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

    The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical
    Storm Harvey, located over southwestern Louisiana and on newly
    formed Tropical Storm Irma, located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

    1. An area of low pressure could form over the southwestern Gulf of
    Mexico by the weekend. Development, if any, of this system is
    expected to be slow to occur as the low moves slowly northward.
    If this system does develop, it could bring additional rainfall to
    portions of the Texas and Louisiana coasts. However, any rainfall
    forecast is uncertain at this time range and it is too soon to
    determine any specific impacts. Interests in these areas should
    monitor the progress of this system for the next few days.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.

    "Can I get an amen? Now hold up your Bible. Now repeat after me. I....am somebody...."

    He's finally exposed for what he is, but I do agree the story's getting too much traction while people are made homeless and living in shelters. Well, then again, he didn't want to make The Bank........er, God's House.........a shelter, so I can see how this became a story.

    They were outstanding except for intensity which forecast models are still terrible at.

    Me and my family made it to a motel this morning. We have power and are safe. Beaumont is still under water so I don't know how long we will be out here. My car is floating somewhere so will have to wait until my brother can come get us from Deer Park. He got zero water over the streets in his neighborhood.

    I know we're all on a rampage about Lakewood, but did those other big guys: Woodlands Church open their doors?

    anecdotal evidence: the water on the Bayou at Beltway 8 is slowly rising. Voluntary evacuations were advised for for a couple of blocks further South of the Bayou in my subdivision. That would be me, but I can't see it. I've still got a good 3 feet of elevation. I was more worried when it was raining that the streets wouldn't drain. The odd thing is, they are not draining now, water is actually coming up from the storm drain. maybe it needed the head pressure of the inflow to push it through that it does not have now.

    The church thing is just an outlet for frustration and anger. We've got a lot of it and there really isn't a blame to be placed on anyone for 40" of rain.
