With the Hooks down to their last strike, Kyle Tucker hit a 3-run homer in the 7th to give Corpus Christi a 12-11 win in the second game of their doubleheader with San Antonio. Little Tuck now has 23 homers this year.
Great to see him come back so strongly after struggling heavily most of August. 5 HRs in his last 10 games and maybe the more encouraging sign is 7 walks to only 4 strikeouts.
Ramon Laureano hit his 10th HR yesterday. I'm not all that high on him and thought he was overrated coming into this season, but now he's probably slightly underrated. His walk rate has plummeted this season, but that's really the only concrete negative development. He has still hit for power, still shows speed (24 SB), his k rate is actually lower this season than any previous pro seasons, and he is still rated as a good defensive player. So it's fairly established he's a prospect with 4 above average tools that aren't going anywhere. If he can show the reduced walks are a fluke and get some better BABIP results (.259 this year), he will still have a decent shot at being an everyday major leaguer. But even if he doesn't show a double digit walk rate, he will still likely be a decent 4th OF in the majors. Either way I think he will need to be protected from the Rule 5 this fall.

Wow, interesting list. Figured there'd be some younger and/or less proven guys, but it's mostly studs.
Tyler Ivey has thrown 8.1 shutout innings thus far today. Great to see him show good results his last five starts after struggling mightily to start his career.
Well actually, Ivey threw 7 innings, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 6. Diogenes Almengo walked 3 and struck out 3 in 3 innings, and Ben Smith allowed a hit and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless as Tri-City won 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.
or this other kid Lance McCullers, I hear he has ace-level stuff but just needs to maintain control, particularly in the face of a temper that's starting to develop its own reputation. I really hope he gets his **** together, puts it in a backpack, takes it to the **** store, whatever he needs to do, as long as he gets his **** together.
