It's crazy. I remain under mandatory evacutation here, but the sun is out, not one cloud in the sky, the ground is even dry... I'd be mowing right now if we weren't waiting for impending doom, record river flooding. Would just seem wrong. Today is the most beautiful day ever though.
And everyone located in between houston & the gulf of mexico, in the path of the 10 trillion gallons of water trying to get there.
Anyone have a good source for current info on how clear 290 is heading into town? My wife needs to try to get to work, she works in the general vicinity of 290 @ 610 . Seems hard to tell what is the most current updated info on how clear 290 is now.
It may be over for Houston but let's not forget our neighbors who are/will be hit hard. Houston needs to offer them supportjust like they did.
anecdotally, the water that was down about a foot yesterday is back up where it was, I'm judging by a dead car in an intersection two blocks from the bayou.
I don't understand this narrative for something you or anyone knows for sure what happened. But it's been reported numerous times they couldn't take anyone in because a) they were close to being flooded themselves and b) they didn't have anyone there to administer to people's needs. They were able to transport some people to the convention center close by who did have the means and medical staff to take care of them. Once they were clear of flooding, they worked with the city to be a place to take thousands of people in. If you don't like the guy, fine.. to each their own. But I don't think it's fair to use your biased opinion to put down someone who IS presently helping thousands of people in a time of real need.
The peoples need to vent and the hypocrisy of Christianity when 'community' is paramount is an understandable target whether the actual facts of it are true or not. But the same as with Trump, the True Believers will not abandon Osteen. Hell 59 was a lake how would people even have gotten there?
To all the people that participated in rescue or donated money, y'all are the real MVP's. In such a tragic time the state of Texas shows we can ignore race and our differences to come together. This is what our country should be about. It's sad It took a natural disaster, but it is amazing to see so many Texans displaying these heroic acts. To anyone on CF's that helped in any way, I tip my hat to you.
